Ocean Eye - Carnes Crossroads

Our experience with Ocean Eye started out okay but has gone downhill since. When my teen first went in for contacts, we were told his trial pair would be in within a week to 10 days. 2 weeks after hearing nothing, I called to check in only to find out they had not been ordered. 2 weeks after that, I called to check in again to find out they had been sitting there and no one had called to let us know or schedule a fitting. During his fitting, the girl who helped him was wonderful. She was very patient and encouraging, and she's the only reason this isn't a one-star review. Fast forward a few months, and I tried to order a pair of glasses, the exact same frames he already has, just with the updated prescription Ocean Eye gave him. The office we go to didn't have the frame, but said the Summerville location might. They told me they'd message that office and call me right back. No call. I called again and was told they weren't sure why I hadn't been contacted but would follow up. I finally got a call confirming the frame was available. When I tried to order over the phone (since my son is out of town for two weeks and doesn't have his glasses), they refused to process it without an in-person visit for measurements, even though they have his exact frames and prescription on file. I was told there was nothing they could do. It is clear to me that they want him to come in for us to pay yet another fee. The lack of communication and follow-through from the front desk has been extremely frustrating. The doctors and techs may be great, but the customer service and communication from the office staff really need improvement. If I can order glasses directly from Oakley or Lens Crafters, there is no need for them to do measurements on him again.

This place is the best! Best decision I made was to transfer to Ocean Eye. I have not met an unpleasant staff member yet! I do wish that I could remembered the name of the lady that helps with the glasses. She is top notch! Just like today, I walked in to get my glasses adjusted and she went above and beyond. I love it here!!

The nurse was so kind and patient with my son who doesn't really sit still but needed to for his exam. She laughed with him and was silly with him. The doctor was also very kind and explained everything to me she took her time and asked if we had any other questions. Nothing was rushed and it felt very friendly but professional.

Called to scheduled my two kids for new patient appointments at the beginning of July and was scheduled for the 24th. Got a call the 22nd saying they needed to reschedule us because they double booked due to a new system. Ok sure no problem, I understand things happen. Was rescheduled for today the 31st. We get there and was told not only do they not have them on the schedule, but the Dr wasn't even in office and they didn't even have my son in their system! Was told we can book something but they were booked a few weeks out. Yea no thank you. We will never be going there.

Daughter went to an eye appointment at main st location but contact fittings only happen at carnes location. Waited a month for a fitting appointment to have it cancelled. Rescheduled for two weeks later, cancelled again. Then called and staff said they have no clue what's happening and maybe in a week they could start looking at schedule. Ocean Eye was great but grew to many locations to fast and now our family is done.

They were friendly from the time we walked in the door to meeting with the optician and with the doctor, everything was perfect. Everything was friendly very nice people every single one of them I can't say enough, and I will recommend you to anybody I know so, thank you so much for a wonderful experience my husband and I had!

I recently had my eye exam and purchased glasses from this office. Everyone was kind from the moment I walked in.Annette, Hannah, Dr Simkin, Priscilla, and Stephanie were great. My glasses came in much quicker than anticipated and look and feel great!

I am so sorry to share that I am very disappointed with this company. I can't believe that I left America's Best to give this company a chance. I went in for an eye exam on January 24th of 2025 and ordered a pair of bifocal glasses. Nothing special. Just regular bifocals. I called a couple of times to check up on the status of my order and I was told that the frames I ordered were out of stock. I said no problem, I can come in and select a different frame. They then contacted me and told me that the frames that I ordered were now back in stock and that if I came in and ordered a another pair it would probably take about the same time. Well, it's February 19th. Almost a month later...and I have not received my glasses. I'm very disappointed and I will never go back to them again. My suggestion is that they stop focusing on this whole aloha, island theme and focus on trying to find a better way to serve people that come in and pay good money for service. I would not recommend that you use this company. *EDIT* I finally had a manager contact me on Feb 24 after I called the previous Friday to request a refund and was told that a refund wasn't an option and that they would call me when my glasses arrived on WEDNESDAY (I was told WEDNESDAY). Guess what? No call. No glasses. No refund. It's Thursday Feb 27th....
