Family Optical

I recently bought two pair of glasses at Family Optical and am extremely pleased. From the moment I walked in the staff was friendly and helpful. When having my glasses fitted, Dr. H was very easy to talk to and explained everything he was doing. My glasses fit great!

Just wanted to thank Dr. Tammy Hirsch, Pat and staff. I've been "seeing" Dr. Hirsch for 25+ years.The professionalism and excellent service has had me coming back year after year. Thank you Dr. Hirsch, Pat and your excellent staff!

Pros: beautiful building, eye exam was ok. Cons: some of the staff was very unpleasant to deal with, particularly the store manager. All I wanted to do was look at glasses myself and then try them on. He would not give me the chance to do so. He kept taking glasses off the shelf and thrusting them in front of me to try on. This method did not work for me. I even explained that I wanted to look by myself and he became very impatient and frustrated and proceeded to shove eye glasses in front of me at a faster pace. He was so rude! Finally I told him that I was going to choose my glasses another day, and I left. I WILL NOT be going back to Family Optical. I don't know if I've ever dealt with such poor customer service. The girl at the front desk who ran some of the eye tests was not pleasant, either. I don't understand the good reviews.

My husband and I are new to SD. We moved to Spearfish about a year and a half ago and desperately needed to see an eye Dr. We decided to try Family Optical based on the reviews. We have never been more happy with an optometrist than we were with them. The Dr. was not only thorough but super nice and welcoming. The ladies up front were fun, welcoming, and super helpful. We received our glasses in less than the 10 days we were told and, most importantly, they are honestly the best prescriptions we've ever had. This is definitely our optometrist for life.

The care given by everyone at Family Optical is amazing! Appointments are easy to schedule. Emergencies are handled quickly...no waiting until the next day to get in. They really care about their patients. Tammy is thorough and explains things very well. Thank you for all you have done for me!

Dr Hersch is amazing!! The girls in the office are personably and friendly, and FUN. I've been to a lot of eye doctors, from the city to rural, and Family Optical is by far my favorite! Thank you for taking such good care of me and my family!

This Is the most thorough eye exam I have had in years. Dr. Caudill was patient, detailed, flexible and provided execellent analysis and feedback on the exam results. Becca was very helpful and critically accurate in assisting my glasses selection and prism assessment. The office manager did an excellent job of fixing my bent glasses so I can continue seeing until my new prescription arrives. As we say in the Navy when a job is "well done", Bravo Zulu. Thanks

All around an amazing eye clinic. From the front desk staff to the techs to the actual doctor, everyone was so pleasant and helpful. Everything was explained in detail about my visit. Highly recommend.
