This morning my mother was scheduled for a shot for her macular degeneration. Each time she and I both request extra numbing medication prior to the shot. Today was no exception. She has always felt as if she was run in and out no patient bedside manner and today no exception. The Dr came in she requested extra numbing medication and he applied 1 drop and immediately administered the shot which caused her extreme pain. No concern for the pain that was inflicted just take this paper and make another appointment in 10-12 weeks. This is not the first time this has happened. This office, techs office staff and extra need a lesson in compassion and listening to the people they are serving.

I do not recommend this place at all. The techs were talking the entire time of my test for glaucoma making it hard to concentrate on my target. So, I was concerned for the accuracy of that test. Dr. Shelton was irritated about a tech that came from another facility not doing things the way they do them there. I overheard all of this. I guess her frustration rolled over to my exam when she told the guy to give me more drops because my eyes were watering so bad. Not one single person had gloves on while touching my face/eyes. Nor did they use hand sanitizer. After having my eyes dilated, I was left in a bright waiting room for at least 30 minutes!! It was miserable!! I was given eye drops with no instructions so today I sit in a waiting room to get a second opinion.

Waited 3 hours for appointment. They took back 4 people that came after my appointment time. Will NOT be back!!! Going to get a second opinion

Dr Jones was great and her staff was very supportive.

The wait times are way too long! Minimum time is over two hours!! Its frustrating when you have to takde time off from work!

Update: I am upping the review to three stars because, to her credit, Dr. Shelton is very willing to refer out patients when needed. I ended up being referred to Vanderbilt due to some complications and they have been wonderful with little to no wait time for appointments, even last minute appointments. I appreciate doctors knowing when a patient needs more resources than a facility has and doesn't hesitate to refer out. I would still recommend finding another facility if you are there to see Dr. Shelton solely due to lack of time management and chronic two hour plus wait times. Very disappointed. I've been seeing Dr. Mason at the White Bridge location for retina related things for a while and I cannot recommend him and that location enough. He referred me to Dr. Shelton for eye pressure and it is a night and day difference. She doesn't remember anything about the patients or bother looking at the chart before talking to them. Her staff won't check eye pressure because she doesn't trust them to do it and when I requested it before getting my eyes dilated, they insisted on a witness because "you know how Dr. Shelton is," which tells me she doesn't treat her staff well. I could deal with most of that, but then she consistently makes people wait 2 hours past their scheduled appointment times. When she finally showed up, she didn't even acknowledge the wait, much less offer even a fake apology. I may be stuck due to insurance and other things, but I will be switching if I am able to and I recommend staying away from her if you are able. (I met with Dr. Jones there twice and she was great - no issues from the staff with her and she was punctual. Even while I was waiting on Dr. Shelton, Dr. Jones was getting patients in without making them wait. This is ENTIRELY Dr. Shelton and her staff and time management.)

I definitely do not recommend going here. Always a problem. Plan on being there for at least 2 to 3 hours. The doctors are in a big rush and rude do not take the time to explain anything. Billing has made errors in the past. They tried to schedule me a laser surgery without giving me any information about it. Now I've switched doctors and I'm having a problem getting my medical records even though I filled out two releases and even brought one to them in person. You really don't want someone messing with your eyes when acting like they're agitated in a big rush. Even with the way the doctor put my eye drops in was very aggressive basically dripping it all over my face and just handing my paperwork and trying to rush me out the door when I had a few questions she was very agitated. She just said I've been doing this a long time and I know what I'm doing. Well you know what it's my eyes and I deserve to know exactly what's going on whether she likes it or not.

If you are reading this review to decide on your doctor. DO NOT GO HERE. The only reason you get a 1 star review is because it does NOT allow for 0 stars. I was there on three separate visits over the last 6-8 months for follow ups. After my last visit I had enough. Their way of doing business is to overbook and disregard the patient. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. YOU MUST AVOID THIS NIGHTMARE FACILITY. My wait times ranged from 2hr to 3 1/2 hrs, I was only there for a follow up so my time with the dr was a few minutes. There were elderly patients in the waiting room in distress because they have missed medication times. Everyone was vocalizing the same thing "every time I come here the wait is over 2-3 hours, I am never coming back". They are putting people's health at risk with their lack of care, lack of respect and complete lack of professionalism. This facility (without saying the words) is telling their patients give me your money sit down and shut up. I have never been so disrespected and mistreated in any other doctor's office EVER. If you make the wrong choice to go, there, YOU will be mistreated as well. That is a 100% guarantee. The complete lack of professionalism is mind boggling. This is the only doctor's office I have ever been to that mistreats their patients to such an extreme that it begs the question how are they still is business? How are the regulating agencies in the County and State not cracking down on their abuse of patients? There are plenty of other competent and professional facilities to go to you. YOU MUST cross this nightmare off your list of doctors' offices.
