Allen Eye Associates: Wimbish John OD

My entire family has been with Dr. Wimbish for as long as I can remember. He's as good as it gets. He detected an early problem with my wife that could have been disastrous and quickly referred us to a specialist and made sure that she was scheduled ASAP. He's a great doctor, very personable, takes his time with every patient, and always answers question in a manner that is easy to understand. Highly recommend. Life long patient.

I have been a long time patient of Dr. Wimbush. I have been going to him over 12 years. I received a bad batch of contacts and had to work with Dee on getting them replaced. This was my first bad experience. I tried to get an update and an ETA of the lenses and she was rude and short. Not the experience I am accustomed to. She said she did not have an ETA and when she got them they would be sent to me. I would think that she could call the manufacturer and check but she did not. Very disappointed in my interaction and her lack of concern. I left a voicemail for the office manager. Not a great customer experience.

I ordered glasses, scheduled an appointment to pick them up and check the fit. The receptionist came to talk to me after I was in the waiting room. She told me that there was no one to see me that day so she would just bring the classes to me. I asked if someone was absent due to sickness, and she told me no. I asked if they were late, she told me no. So I told her that I would wait. She told me that she would bring me my glasses to the waiting room and I asked her not to, that I was going to wait. She brought me the glasses and told me that she wanted me to try them. I told her that I would not do that. Eventually an optician saw me. Very weird and rude. I am not coming back, plenty of places to get glasses that people are not rude.

We have been going to Allen Eye Associates since our son, who is now a Sophomore in College, was little. We have stayed with them through two changes in office location, and our own move out of Allen to Dallas. The fact that we now live 30 minutes away and are still happy to drive to Allen rather than change eye doctors should say it all. Dr. Wimbish is extremely thorough, knowledgeable, professional, and he cares about his patients. He keeps up on all medical advances, and the equipment and tests run in the office are always state of the art. We trust Dr. Wimbish (and his colleagues) completely, and he has repaid that trust by taking excellent care of our entire family for many years. We all always get our glasses and contact lenses, not just our exams and care, through Allen eye, because we know they will not recommend any product that isn't right for the customer.
