One of the best Eye doctors in Austin! Dr. Makkouk was very highly recommended to me by a friend. He is Very knowledgeable, Calm, and easy to understand. Office uses latest Eye examination equipment. Staff is friendly and helpful. I was especially happy to receive a guide to my diagnosis, in case I couldn't remember details later.

I don't recall ever having such a detailed explanation of what was happening with my eyes and the treatment plan/options before my appointment with Dr. Makkouk. I truly appreciate this. There was little wait time and the staff were very friendly and helpful too. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone.

Dr. Makkouk is excellent. When I first found out about my detached retina he saw me immediately even though I was not a previous patient. Within 4 hours I was in surgery. He was very thorough in explaining what happened and how he would correct through surgery. The surgery was a great success returning my vision to 20/25. Each follow up he took his time to explain how I was progressing and what to expect by the next visit. I can happily say that I fully recovered thanks to Dr Makkouk.

I took my wife to see Dr Makkouk after being referred to him by her optometrist to repair a retinal tear. She was treated the next day for the very serious condition. Dr Makkouk and all his staff were caring and very friendly.

I set my follow up appointment with this office exactly a year ago. Yesterday, on Sunday, I received a text message reminding me that I have an appointment this Tuesday (in 48 hours). I called this morning, Monday, at 9:15 am to cancel the appointment for tomorrow. I was informed that because I didn't give 24 hours notice, it will be considered a no show, and in order to reschedule an appointment they will need a credit card on file. I explained to the lady on the phone, that I scheduled this appointment a year ago (obviously, I don't recall making this appointment). I received the text message yesterday, and I'm calling this morning to cancel for tomorrow; and you're considering an no-show?? And she says yes. Because "I did not give a 24-hour notice". I said to her. Well you were closed on Sunday, and that's when I received the text message. How was I supposed to call? She said, "you could have called and left a message". Or she says, "well, if you had called at 8:40am this morning that would have sufficed". I said to her, well it's now 9:15am. She says, "sorry sir that's the policy." So because I called, 35 minutes past, their "policy" deadline. My cancellation is a no-show. In order to reschedule an appointment I need to put a credit card on file. I said. Thank you. It's not that important to me. Needless to say, I'm not returning. This is the perfect case study in poor customer service. It's actually hilarious. Dr. Makkouk. Man. You're a great guy. I really enjoy you. But you need to address those issues at the front desk.

Dr. Makkouk was very professional and personable. He took time to make certain I understood all aspects of my condition and allowed as much time as I needed for questions!

My 1st visit due to my Dr. retiring. Excellent location, easy access, parking. Extremely friendly and efficient personnel. No wait, they actually took me in early. Dr. Makkouk sat down and provided me with a visual of my eye charts, explaining in a manner that I understood.

Excellent visit! Staff are very welcoming and friendly. It was easy to schedule appointment and they are very efficient and on time. Dr Makkouk is very attentive, engaging, thorough and knowledgeable. He took time to review all my tests and answered all of my questions.
