I'm extremely disappointed in my experience at Lone Star Eye. The star is for the desk person Grant who has genuinely been trying to help me, but who keeps running into rigid policies and lack of customer care at the company. In short, there have been multiple errors over many months, and I am not seeing LSE own and correct these errors in a reasonable way. I see from other reviews that errors and money grabs are a common theme here.
(1) We discussed a specific contact lens Rx in the office, and then the wrong contacts lenses were ordered. When I attempted to reorder, it took months and multiple calls to receive the correct lenses.
(2) When I went to fill my glasses Rx, I realized it was the wrong Rx. I called them to correct it, and they said since 60 days had passed, I would need to come back in and pay another $75. I was never even handed a copy of the Rx at the appointment, otherwise I would have realized the error on the spot, and we could have fixed it. They attempted to fix it by putting a random "Add" on the glasses, but I don't use reading glasses.
I have asked them to own and correct this error, but they have dug in their heels on charging me another $75. I can't get a new - and correct - Rx for that elsewhere. Thankfully I noticed the error, and then the second error with the Add, or I would have been out hundreds of dollars on glasses I couldn't use.
Cannot express how disappointed I am - I genuinely enjoyed the doctor here. However, the service at the front is abysmal. I was told not to call/text to reschedule after the appointment was cancelled during the freeze. I never heard anything back. I was told to call in to check on my contact lenses - when I did so, I was again told, we need to talk to the doctor, and we will call you back. Guess what? They didn't.
When I called today explaining this was an emergency and I needed the lenses before leaving town - the girl on the phone (who told me in a berating text message that she is not a girl, she is an adult) told me "Not to be rude, but that's not an emergency." I'm not sure what other "emergencies" people have to get contact lenses and glasses but yes, going out of town to perform in Las Vegas is an emergency where I need the lenses especially where they are just sitting there.
She then proceeded to send me a text message berating me - telling me that I yelled at her, I was disrespectful to her - I've never encountered "service" like this. I cannot believe it and will never return after this awful experience.
Everyone here was extremely personable and professional. I had just moved down here so the process of finding new doctors is a daunting task - mostly because there are a lot of options and you don't want to have a bad experience. I'm sure in a city like Austin I am certainly not alone. With that being said, I am very fortunate to hit a home run on the first pitch. Doctor Colorado was wonderful and she answered all my questions - you can tell she genuinely cares about her patients! I was in and out - I HIGHLY recommend going here.
Firstly, everyone working here seems to be genuinely happy. The prescriptions I've received from Dr. Packer over the years have always been crystal clear - he even does a great job with multi focal contacts. I really couldn't be happier with my choice of optometrist.
Dr. Packer and staff always go above and beyond. My entire family, including my kids, see Dr. Packer. We can't say enough, good things about him, he is super knowledgeable and down to earth. We highly recommend!
Their exams and prescription lenses are good but outrageously expensive compared to other Eye Doctors in the area. Also, they mixed up my prescription and had a different patient name on my paperwork, they had also processed my claim under her name I had to go and tell them to double check and fix it. They did this two years in a row.
The team was super patient, walking me through frames and lenses without any pressure-just pure helpful vibes. Ended up loving my new specs and how easy the whole process was. Highly recommend for anyone nervous about starting out!
I hadn't been to Lone Star Eye in a while because of cataract surgery and follow up, but I called this morning, hoping to get in quickly because of a trip tomorrow. They were able to give me an appointment and I saw Dr. Reyes. He's so sweet and so thorough and I was given two prescriptions and was able to pick them up, so it couldn't have gone any better. I completely recommend Lone Star Eye.
