My experience at TSO Bluff Spring was terrible.
One positive! The ladies at the front desk were incredibly nice and hard working.
When I arrived, the front desk was very busy, but a guy who seemed to be in charge and a male doctor were standing in the lobby chatting, ignoring customers and interrupting the front desk ladies to talk about the next weeks schedule. When I was finally called, I had a female doctor who didnt look at me, barely spoke to me, rushed through the exam, rushing my answers, then said "you have a small prescription" and left the room before I could ask any questions. I imagine she was frustrated that the other doctor wasn't doing anything.
The front desk ladies were, again, very kind and helped me pick out my glasses.
The glasses arrived two weeks later, but they didn't do anything! I haven't been to an eye doctor since I was a kid, and as I started sharing my experience with friends, I started to realize that they didn't even do a full eye exam, which is what I signed up and paid for!
I called my insurance and told them the situation, and they agreed to allow me a redo with another eye doctor. I went to Oak Hill Eye Care, and took my glasses with me. They tested the TSO Bluff Springs glasses, and I learned that THERE WAS NO PRESCRIPTION PUT IN THE LENSES!!! They took my money and gave me glasses without a prescription. Oak Hill Eye Care was a wildly different, incredibly positive experience.
After my exam at Oak Hill, I called TSO BS and told them the situation and asked for a refund or for them to fix my glasses. They said they didn't give refunds and would only fix my glasses if I scheduled a recheck with them. I reiterated that I already had a recheck and new prescription and they said that they needed to do the recheck. I called my insurance company back and they said that was incorrect. They are required to fix the glasses if I have a prescription showing that they made them wrong the first time. My insurance company called them while I was on hold to reiterate this policy, and only then did TSO BS agree to fix my glasses.
I will definitely never go there again, and feel for the ladies working the front desk, and the customers they are taking advantage of.
I went in with the vision voucher. Please be advised that if you have a vision voucher they can only see you as a walk-in. You cannot make an appointment.
The exam went pretty quickly, but only because I'm familiar with the process and the eye doctor knew what he was doing. I had already chosen a pair of glasses, so ordering them was also quick and easy. The appointment and eyeglass order seemed professional enough. They told me my glasses would be ready in 7 to 10 days.
Fast forward 10 days and I did not receive a phone call letting me know my glasses were ready. I finally called them 11 days after the 10-day mark, knowing they would be ready for pickup. Yes, they said they were ready for pickup. I told them I would be there shortly.
I walked in and tried on my new glasses. Once my eyeglasses fit just right, I asked when my glasses came in. They said they came in October 23rd. (It was now October 29th.) I told them I did not receive a phone call to let me know my glasses were ready for pickup. She said they called and left a voicemail on October 23rd. I promptly checked my call log, and there was no record of their call.
I am rating them 2 stars based on their own star rating system on one of their advertisements inside the store. Two stars indicates "basic", which is what I believe I received. The eye doctor was much more professional than the staff. That was the professional part. That was the one thing that got them the 2 stars.
If you are looking for very basic service, with just a simple eye exam and you don't care about professionalism, this is the place to go. I will not be returning to this location. I will be going somewhere that is more on top of things and more professional.
Helpful, fast assistance at reception. Roxanne conducted a preliminary assessment precisely at my appointment time - no delays - and then a very knowledgeable and informative examination by Dr. Nimra Shaikh established absolute trust in the proficiency and professional abilities of her clinic.
A fantastic range of frames and the front desk ensures everything falls within medical insurance coverage.
Could not have been happier with my first experience!
Fastest visit I've ever had in my life. Personable and professional staff. Updated tech. Clean facility. Big range of frames for the Travis County St David's CommUnity Care Vision Voucher Grant.
Great and quick service! Calming environment...They accept medicaid superior insurance! It was hard to find good optometrist and optition clinic that provide good service with medicaid. Dr. Sheikh was quick and straight to the point. Their frames are fairly priced, ranging between $150 and $299. Highly recommend them!
3 exams before any real results were wearable.
Sometimes they say it takes time for you to adjust to your prescription but that's not the case when being examined.
I STILL need pupillary distances. This ultimately limits the frames you can get so I can see why they wouldn't want you to have this information.
This has been going on since I was a child.
I've lived here all my life.
Dr. Sheikh...shes the one that sees me currently.
Great service, great staff. Weren't open during posted hours for a pickup.
Consumer beware! This was by FAR the worst experience I've ever had at an eye doctor. I am a first--and certainly last--time customer, where I naturally assumed I'd see an eye doctor on staff, but of course not. I was only alerted there would be a replacement doctor after my initial exam.
I should have trusted my gut after my initial exam that this wasn't a great place. The machines didn't look like they were wiped down after the previous person, but I did not speak up until after my turn to ask. I was assured they were, but based every other experience, wiping the machines down should always be done in front of the patient.
After, I was brought back into the waiting room to only be led by, what I'm assuming was a PA--although I don't know the technical term-- named Quintin. I was only informed of his named after I asked. He was smacking his gum so incredibly unprofessionally, I was horrified. As if his attitude, body language and gum smacking wasn't enough, he crumpled up a tissue and tossed it into the garbage like he was a middle school boy.
Somehow, it does in fact get worse. After the replacement eye doctor noticed some discrepancies with my chart and my second exam, he sought help from Quintin who was clearly losing patience. I was horrified once again. Quintin then ran another test with my glasses and came back into the room to inform the doctor. Quintin shoved his hand into what he assumed was the doctor's face, but the doctor was turned the other way. Quintin then looked at me, rolled his eyes and said, "Oh he's not even looking."
My point is, avoid this place at all costs. I would rather pay out of pocked for an out of network office than come back here again.
