The Optometry Center for Vision Therapy

My experience with OCVT was not a positive one. I'm an adult and was treated for BVD at both Austin locations. My main concern was they had me do very, very basic "in clinic" exercises and also "at home" exercises. They strictly limited how often I did my home exercises by telling me "studies say there is no benefit in doing more home exercises than 3x a week." This is in direct conflict with BVD protocol for at home exercises as near daily home exercises are highly recommended to treat this condition. I also spoke with over a dozen BVD patients and they all were prescribed daily at home exercises. I will say the visual therapists there are not the problem, they were fine. But in my experience they just limit how fast they will progress you which means you will spend much more time as their patient. I even asked them often to strengthen my exercises in clinic and at home, but my requests were ignored. Lastly, the Bee Caves location was very lacking in returning calls or messages I left them. So, after 7 months of VT there with no progress and over $4300 spent, I switched therapy clinics to one that supports BVD recovery protocols, listens to their clients and truly cares about getting results. And in a short period of 3 weeks I feel I've made better progress where I'm at now than I ever did at OCVT.

My son's reading, writing, and overall confidence have tremendously improved because of OCVT!! All the staff are welcoming and polite, but his therapists Andrea and Destiny and the Director Ashley went above and beyond to ease his fears, answer all our questions and ensure that we felt cared for and comfortable at each and every session. They have a great staff here that cares about the kids, works hard with them, and gives clear metrics to the parents to track progress. Ms. Andrea has worked closely with my son and seems as proud of his progress as I am. They definitely care about the improvement of my kid's vision.

Wonderful experience from start to finish. They were great with my 7 year old son during the evaluation and we look forward to working together through therapy.

OCVT has improved my son's eye tracking and reading speed drastically. Helping him with both school and sports. The staff is always so friendly with scheduling and making the work as fun and relevant for his interests.

OCVT has been great to work with. Our daughter had to put in the work but they made it as fun as they could and worked with our schedule to make sure she had the same therapist every time so that she was comfortable and working with someone she had a relationship with. She just graduated from the program today and we are very happy with results. We knew it was knew it was working when she stopped coming home from school with headaches after forcing herself to read. We knew it was working well when she started reading for fun, and reading out loud for her stuffies. The exercises and regular progress reports made a huge difference in terms of motivation and she saw tremendous gains on both her assessment scores and in-school performance.

If you have a toddler who needs a regular eye check, like annually this is go to place to do so. We have had three visits with west lake location and every-time we have been here this facility has gone above and beyond to cater my toddler's needs. During our visits, the team make sure to keep baby's attention to get her thorough inspection.

What a wonderful team! I had substantial vision issues after a surgery in 2021. The therapy program (and practice!) helped me improve my vision to what feels like what it was before the surgery! The ability to complete my therapy sessions online was such a great benefit as well. I cannot speak highly enough about the entire staff of OCVT - every single person has been so kind and helpful and it is just a wonderful environment. I'm glad to have made such progress and it wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support and guidance of OCVT!
