Children's Health Ophthalmology (Eye) Dallas

The care you get will be good but the entire experience is absolutely atrocious. No matter what your appointment time is you will always wait at least 45 minutes in the lobby for them to call you back. Every appointment takes close to 3 hours even for basic checkups. They definitely over schedule and customer experience is not at all on their priority list (look at review history). Unless your child has an extreme case or very special need to go here, I HIGHLY recommend finding a different place for general eye care. Just recently we left six voicemails and five messages in the app and it took over a week and the threat of reaching out to the Texas Medical Board for someone to answer a basic question. We officially left after that

Horrible experience with this clinic. My daughter's neurologist at children's referred her to the clinic based on findings from her MRI. When you call to schedule an appointment you have to wait on hold for 20+ minutes just to speak with someone. I was then told that the clinic refuses to see us due to the type of insurance plan we carry at the moment and will not even see us as self pay. From experience with scheduling in other speciality clinics they can ask their supervisor for approval to schedule us even though our insurance is "out of network" and then we are responsible for the costs insurance doesn't cover but they refused to do so and they refused to let me speak with their supervisor. That being said, we located a private practice that's highly recommended that not only takes our insurance but also takes self pay and has charity options if care is unaffordable. Ironic that Children's preaches commitment to community and health equity yet the ophthalmology clinic refuses to see my daughter.

The experience was good. But I'm most certain they don't sanitize anything. My daughter had an appointment on Tuesday and Wednesday we realized she was getting eye boogers and reddish eyes. We thought it was just allergies. But nope, comes Thursday & she gets worse so we take her to the Urgent care for kids. She comes back with having severe pink eye on BOTH eyes. Bc they didn't sanitize the equipment. They just passed it around without anyone sanitizing and putting it on her eyes. I'm very upset & sad my 4 year old has to go through this.

My daughter has been going here since 2019 and we haven't had any issues. I think it is a great facility that is well kept. The building in general is highly trafficked but the Opthalmology clinic always seems quick moving. My daughter's most recent appointment here was this week and it was another good experience. Temperature checks when entering the building and check-in was minimal since I can check in and fill out forms before we arrive on MyChart. Waiting areas were clean and in less than 10 minutes we were put in our room. Basic questioning/exam and my daughter ,7, had her eyes dilated. It is by far her LEAST favorite thing about these appointments but the doctor managed to do it quickly. We were told to wait 30 minutes for the drops to work and the waiting room was very full. We decided to just stand aside in the hallway instead when a staff member was so kind to show us to another waiting area that was empty! After we returned we finished our appointment and the Doctor was able to answer my questions and the exams were very thorough. I haven't had a bad experience here yet and I always feel the staff is very kind to me and my child. Parking was validated easily.

Dr. Thayer was very informative and thorough. Everyone we saw was nice. The appointment went quickly, the only long part was waiting for the dilation to take effect, but we were able to leave the office to go to the cafeteria while we waited for that part! Overall a very good experience

We have been coming here for almost two years and haven't had real issues other than appointments being hardly available; no flexibility with appts and long wait times in office. But this is ridiculous... We recently had my daughters eye surgery and upon our recheck appt our nurse, Crystal was so rude and made me feel bad/stupid for some of my post op questions. They failed to send in my daughters refill prescription to her pharmacy; she even admitted that on the phone (which okay; I have to give credit when someone owns up to their mistakes) but I'll add they still never sent it so now we hope for the best until tomorrow morning. When I asked how missing a day may effect my daughter, her answer was "it's not like you've been giving them anyways." I'm sorry but regardless of the reason I need more, do not talk to a parent like that!! Crystal is so rude and I feel bad for her coworkers dealing with her daily, along with all the unfortunate patients and parents going further!!

The office is so unsanitary. They called multiple patients back to the same room and never cleaned it. It was just a revolving door of patients in and out. They called my daughter back with someone still in the room. I waited outside the door while they wrapped up. They then led me in straight away without cleaning. There was 30 people alone in the waiting room the time I was there. A few days later my whole family tested positive for Covid-19 (I know we could have got any where). However, any doctors office no matter the kind should be taking proper sanitary steps. Pink eye can easily be spread. The doctors and nurses were great but the lack of sanitizing was disgusting enough to not return.

I had a good experience with checking in, it was quick as we did it before hand on the app. The place is well kept and clean. All nurses wear masks, We didn't wait long in the waiting room. We took our 2 year old. The staff were friendly and attentive. They were very helpful with any questions I had in regards to what was diagnosed for my child to give me a better understanding. The issue I had was with the way we had to get my2 year old to allow them to see her eyes. Because she would not let them. We had to hold her down and a nurse held her head while they examined her eyes. My baby was super scared and crying and screaming making it difficult for them to see her eye. She is 2, I wish there were better ways to get the little ones eyes seen without any force of the eye being opened and being forced down to allow them to determine the issue. I keep hearing my child's crying in my head and calling for mommy. Maybe I am exaggerating but I just was left a little put off by that. In all the nurses are sweet, the doctor that saw us was informative.
