Dr. Vang is very thorough. She takes time to answer questions and address concerns in a thoughtful, unhurried manner. In the eyewear gallery, we always go to see Lydia. I appreciate her knowledge and expertise. She's also very warm and friendly. Lydia really helps simplify the many choices involved when purchasing glasses.

I gave 1 star because I like Dr. Trusty and have been coming here since 2016. The staff on the other hand is horrible. They won't let you see the doctor if you arrive 10 mins late. They are unprofessional on the phone. I'm standing in your lobby, it is empty and you can't see me for a re-check. Don't order your glasses here! I ordered progressive lenses and and they didn't order them right (room spins when I wear them) and the staff refuse to send them back so I'm out of money. I've had enough and won't be back.

This is my second year visiting this Doctor of Optometry. One thing I like about smaller clinics is the one-on-one personal experience you get with your Doctor. That is not something you will get at this office, you will be handed off from one technician to another in assembly line format till you see a doctor, not guaranteed you will see the same doctor twice either. I have come to the realization that the doctors only hire "eye candy" all of the ladies working in this store are younger co-eds that meet some stringent requirement. I would not say they are inept but it seems the management pushes for speed rather than perfection. I have visited the office almost six times in the past two years and one thing for sure is that my wallet can not continue supporting this business. I have complete a cost check of optometrists in my area and this office runs a good 50% higher in price than all the others I have checked with, the only reason I went to them to begin with was my doctor moved to a different area and was no longer covered under my county vision insurance. I have now been waiting nearly a month since my optometry visit to have a trial set of contacts provided and I keep getting the answer that they have not arrived yet. Really? Why do you not keep sizes in stock for trials and emergencies? The one thing I do like about this location is that the technicians and doctors have been friendly to me, they have setup appointments when I experienced an eye injury pretty fast, and I do enjoy the fact they use modern equipment and electronic records. I believe I will be looking for a new doctor really soon.

Very thorough eye exam with a perfect prescription; wide range of glasses to choose from, house lab, AND they carry Silhouette brand lightweight frames which I adore. I found the staff and Dr Trusty to be genuinely friendly...took time to listen to me...what's not to like?!?! Thanks Dr Trusty and staff (Cathy Hein) for an excellent experience.

Went for an eye exam, and Dr. Vang was the one that conducted it. She was super thorough, seemed very knowledgeable, and took the time to answer all the questions I had and also answered the ones I didn't think of! Would highly recommend her!

Dr. Coleman and his staff are amazing. I was determined to wear contacts but have an odd prescription. Dr. Coleman didn't stop until I was fitted with the perfect set of contacts. I've never had a more wonderful experience in an eye doctor's office. I highly recommend Total Eyecare!!

My two children and I have been loyal patients of Total Eye Care for years. In May we switched insurance companies from Cigna to BCBS, when I called to make our appointments I let the woman know and provided our new BCBS information. When we arrived last week I provided the BCBS insurance card. During the exam the Dr mentioned that it didn't show I had vision insurance coverage for the exam and wanted to check coverage for the lenses and contacts to see what I would be able to do that day, i assured him that I do have vision insurance and even texted my husband to get a screenshot of the vision coverage for the office staff which was VBA. I went out to the front and provided the screen shots to the ladies at the front desk who then provided it to their "insurance guy" - and I waited for my Childrens appointments to end. At the end of the appointments I was charged $426.00 and told that they couldn't confirm that I had any vision insurance, I let the woman know I had provided it several times and was still waiting on a response from "the insurance guy" on what my copay would be. I was asked for payment and I made the payment, and was assured that it would be sorted out and things would be "made right" when they confirmed the insurance I had provided. Well- come to find out, I absolutely have vision insurance, and it is the insurance that I provided them at the front desk, before my appointments. Insurance coverage for the complete visit, lenses, frames and a $110.00 cost for contacts. What they did NOT tell me, is that they are NOT in network. They do NOT accept VBA vision insurance!!! So they billed me as out of network and what would have cost me $120.00 had now cost me $426.00. And of course they take zero responsibility whatsoever for not advising me before hand that they were out of network. A lot of "I don't know" why I was never advised this, and how they can't do anything now. The doctor was great. As I said we have been loyal patients for years, however the office staff, has now put my family in a terrible position financially because they failed to be decent people and advise us beforehand that services would all be out of pocket and we would be better off to find a doctor in network.

While I liked Dr. Shinpaugh well enough in person, when I asked for a printout of my prescription, I ended up getting only part of the information. When I called the office to get it, I had to leave a message... which was never returned. A couple of weeks down the road, I called back myself to try and get it straightened out. I could only get the answer that "it was written how it should be" and that the only people who could give pupillary distance were the people selling the glasses (which is patently untrue since I got the same info from my last eye doctor). While the direct experience with the doctor was good, ultimately I feel the business is VERY interested in selling glasses and sort of puts up with the actual eye care in the meantime. I'm left in the awkward position of waiting a year until I can get another insurance-covered eye exam or trying to storm the castle in person to try and get basic information out of the office staff, and that's simply not a position I should have to be in.
