Thurmond Eye Associates

I wanted to share my first experience at Thurmond Eye Associates, and it was great ! I had a free lazik consultation and I was seen by Dr. Arciniega and he had the most wonderful customer service. I was impressed to know that there are still Doctors who care for their patients something not seen so often anymore. He gave me his honest professional opinion and the one best for my eyes. Thank you , happy customer and new patient

I can only speak of my experience with them. The staff was very courteous, and Dr. Christina Johnson was amazing with my autistic nonverbal child. She was able to put my child at ease, and that allowed the doctor to conduct her assessment. Thank you for making this a pleasant experience.

They always take forever to attend you. I recently called trying to get an appointment for my daughter that had a blood red eye and in pain. The receptionist said she could schedule her til late November. I explained the issue with her eye and it's a medical reason if she can be seen sooner. She said no they can't see her until November. Had to reach out to Shah they took her in same day no ifs or buts. Very disappointed with Thurmond eye associates we had been going with them for years waited in lobby for hours to be attended but that was the last straw for us. Will no longer be going back to them.

They do not keep booked appointments. I called Aug 19 (11 minute call) Confirmed a appt for Dec 9 cause they are so booked. I called today Oct 3 just to confirm it's still set and glad I did. They had NO RECORD of this appt. What a disappointment. Their front desk staff is not well trained on how to use a computer system. I decided to ignore the previous reviews and take a chance on booking here but THEY ARE ACCURATE. DO NOT BOOK with them. Go somewhere else where you don't have to wait months.

Leaving a review - years later. I just saw an ad for a competitor and thought, I've never left a review for Thurmond! I had Lasik with Dr. Bentley over the holiday season 2022, the best decision I've ever made. He and his staff were so attentive and caring, they literally held my hand through the procedure and waited for my anxiety to calm down before operating. They also walked my family through the entire procedure, as they watched from the waiting room. If you're thinking about lasik in the RGV, look no further. I continue to recommend Dr. B over anyone!

Friends and family. Be careful with Thurmond Eye in the RGV. My 6 month glaucoma appointment was due in March. They failed to schedule it and schedule for today. When I arrived I was informed I had my co-pay plus a balance of $185. I always pay my co-pay before seeing the Dr. They informed me it was because of I communicated with their "Chronic Care Mgmt Staff" which is considered a tele- visit. They informed me that the new owners charged for my replies to their unsolicited text messages. They contacted me almost weekly. I ignored most of them, but did inquire about my next appointment, and responded to these nice customer service questions. These undisclosed and unauthorized fees cost them customers. My voice reverberated throughout the clinic. When I told the patients in one waiting room what the clinic was doing they said they thought it was just great customer service. Exactly what I thought. Thurmond Eye will never get a penny from this family.

Gave it one star so I can leave the review i have the quote they gave me ON PAPER with SIGNATURES of APPROVAL and last min they denied it, i have it in paper and they denied when I went in to go over my post care and to confirm my apt said nothing was valid since she did not do it and the person that did it was fired due to giving to many discounts so they wont HONOR THE PRICE that I have on paper DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE person did not care what so ever you'd me do you have the money other wise have a good day Her word (HAVE A GOOD DAY )

The customer service is good. The wait is fair. The Dr. Bentley is efficient and knowledgeable. When u check out they try to charge $25 for copay. My card indicates I have zero copay. The clerk wanted to charge me $25 for my eyeglass prescription.I called my insurance. They told me not to pay them $25. I was forced to buy my eyeglasses in their facility.
