Buena Vista Eye Care

If I could give zero stars, I would. I'm sharing my experience so no one else ends up in the position I'm in. I underwent a corneal transplant with Dr. Ramirez in May 2025, and my vision has been significantly worse ever since. Before surgery, I only had keratoconus. After this procedure, I was left with constant eye pain, swelling, blurry vision, and now an ocular disease I never had before. I was never warned of these risks. In fact, I was told the risks were "essentially none" because the donor tissue was radiated for weeks, and that any possible complication would show up within a week. It's now December and I've had issues every single month since surgery. Despite being in their office repeatedly (monthly since May), reporting pain, discomfort, and ongoing swelling, I was continually dismissed. They fit me with a hard contact lens for my surgical eye that caused even more problems. When I continued complaining, they told me I could finally try a soft lens -- but only if I paid more, even though I've paid $9,000 out of pocket for this surgery. When my insurance contacted the office about billing concerns, and after my husband expressed understandable frustration about the lack of care and ongoing pain I've been in, the office suddenly terminated me as a patient. They mailed me a letter accusing me of "disrespectful behavior," refunded the $300 I had just paid, and refused to provide further care -- despite knowing I'm still having complications from their surgery. Knowing the hard contact THEY provided me is causing issues and they're refusing to give me a prescription for soft now. They are refusing to send me my medical records. To be clear I never stopped going to my appointments. I documented and RECORDED every visit. I repeatedly reported pain, heaviness, swelling and worsening vision. Instead of helping me, they discharged me when they were called on their shady practices. I AM NOW SEEKING LEGAL COUNSEL FOR MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE AND MALPRACTICE. If you are considering surgery here, please take this as a warning. My experience has been painful, stressful, expensive, and completely mishandled. I trusted this clinic and was left with permanent damage and no support.

I had an excellent experience from start to finish! From the moment I walked in, the staff was warm, welcoming, and incredibly professional. The check-in process was smooth, and I never felt rushed or overlooked. The eye doctor was thorough, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring--they took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of my questions, and made sure I felt comfortable the entire visit. It's rare to find a provider who combines expertise with such a kind bedside manner. The office itself was clean, modern, and well organized, and the entire team worked seamlessly together. I left feeling confident about my eye health and truly cared for as a patient. The opticians are very knowledgeable, kind and have a great selection on glasses. They help you find what you need for your daily activities. They have modern and highly advanced lenses with upgrades that work perfectly with your day to day needs. I highly recommend this office to anyone looking for top-notch eye care and outstanding customer service. This is the kind of place that makes you actually look forward to your eye appointments!

Excellent service from Gracie Vargas. She was extremely helpful throughout the entire process, ensuring everything went smoothly. I received my glasses promptly and was treated with professionalism and respect. She also provided helpful advice on how to properly care for them. I truly appreciate her outstanding customer service.

Amazing!!! From the moment I stepped in to the moment I walked out. Angie and staff. Wow!! What service and positive energy. Not to mention the best music ever. Dr. Guillot what can I say. Wonderful. He explained everything and gave me options. He took his time. Did not rush by far the best experience in a long time. If you want to feel "seen" go to Buena Vista. Found my new eye doctor.

They were really great. They helped my husband in thr past with an eye issue, gave a quick prognosis and treatment,, and helped him geal. They also helped us get our Medicaid / El Paso Health insurance criteria squared away for a pediatric exam and glasses for my son. The service was very fast & efficient, the exam was painless and the pediatric glasses selections were really very nice. Overall it was another great experience with the staff & I would recommend them to anyone seeking eye care. They are amazing.

The Doctors and staff at Buena Vista Eye Care are all great people. They have treated me and my wife for several years. They are all friendly and professional. It is always a pleasant place to go. The Doctors are all very knowledgable and treat you with kindness. They take the time to hear you out and answer your questions. The service is not expensive and the glasses are of great quality. Service is quick and the wait is not long. I like that I can text their number with a question and they promptly answer back. I highly recommend Buena Vista Eye Care. Thank you for your service!

Fantastic experience. We were treated very well and taken care of quickly. My daughter had swelling in her left eye where she suffered a trauma several years ago and I was very concerned. Dr Monica treated my daughter and she was very thorough and knowledgeable. She communicated well about the health of her eye and cleared any concerns. The entire staff was absolutely amazing! They made us feel like family and kept us informed from start to finish. Thank you Buena Vista and Dr Monica!

Dr. Ramirez and his staff are sincere in their interactions and professional care, not just by attention rendered, but by carefully communicating instructions and information specific to care provided. When patients are treated with respect, are greeted with a smile, and thanked for being there, more than half of the problems are lessened.
