Had a slight concern with a flashing light in my eye
Rather than going into panic mode, I searched for a local ophthalmologist and got an appointment within a day. The new patient questionnaire was easy to fill out when I arrived and wait time to be taken in for my assignment was under 10 minutes. The office itself was pretty welcoming for a Dr's office, staff was friendly and professional. The first assistant ran me through a bunch of tests and she explained each quite thoroughly to make sure I was comfortable and understood the process. Dr. Tran was also very professional and friendly let me know all possibilities and outcomes. I highly recommend this location for any eye care needed.
Totally organized. All the staff knew exactly all of prep procedures and made me feel very comfortable. Great process. It was great to see Linda there as well. She took us through the initial sign up process, seeing her working in the preop area was reassuring and comforting. Thanks.
I've been a patient of Dr. Parmer for the past two years for dry eye treatment, and she has been amazing. I'm disappointed that today was my last appointment with her due to ongoing issues with the office.
At my last couple of appointments, I've waited close to an hour in the waiting room before being called back. Today, I was asked to fill out paperwork, which was fine, but I declined to complete the refraction page since that is not the reason for my visit. A staff member approached me and insisted that I sign it. I explained that I already have an optometrist and did not want a refraction. She responded that "it is up to the doctor to decide." I asked if I was being forced to sign it despite declining the service, and she said yes, so I signed it just to be seen today.
When I was finally brought back, the technician informed me that Dr. Parmer is no longer allowed to perform manual eyelid expressions. This is the primary reason I come in every 4-6 months, so learning this at the appointment was extremely frustrating.
The final straw was at checkout. I was told I had a $75 balance. At my previous visit, I was told I had a credit, so I was understandably confused. When I questioned it, the staff member said nothing and did not offer to get anyone to explain. I was left to figure it out on my own by calling my insurance.
Appointment for my wife scheduled for 10:20am. It is 11:10am and we are still in the waiting room. Plan your out of offices for hours when you come here. The 2 stars are in the hope the consultation is worth the wait
Dr. Pazandak is very good and takes the time to explain. As well as listens to and answers your questions. The techs giving you the appropriate eye tests are also good.
I do have a problem with billing and scheduling. Why must a patient wait for nearly 20 minutes after the appointment to check out, while the scheduler and another employee chit chat, stir their Starbucks type drink, etc. Before calling your name.
Billing. Received a call from Paula stating that Tricare refused to pay. I never mentioned I had Tricare and never have had. She advised me that that is what Medicare has as my secondary. I told her that was impossible since I have already been to many doctors and it is already August 2025 and I have never had that problem. She stated that I needed to contact Medicare to get it straightened out, or I would have to pay. So, I called Medicare who told me the date they got my claim, and the date Medicare sent it to BCBS my true secondary. They stated they never sent anything to Tricare, that you office must have.
I then contacted BCBS who agreed Medicare sent the claim to them on which date, and it was currently being processed. They too, never sent anything to Tricare.
After 1hr and 48min talking to the above insurances, I contacted you and left a message for Paula that neither insurance had sent anything to Tricare and that your office must have. She texted back only to say Thanks for letting us know. It would have been nice to have gotten a call of apology.
Today received an explanation of benefits from a JW eye associates...WHO. trying to bill over $500 for tests, etc. Because your office did not code anything correctly the bill was denied.
Lastly, on my first visit, I was told a test was mandatory and insurance would not pay. So, I would be responsible for the $60 upfront. I paid upon checking in. Then I find out this charge was also submitted to both of my insurances in hope, I guess of getting paid. Neither did, but wonder if your office would ever let me know of a credit if you would pay twice.
It really doesn't matter how great the doctor is, or testing is. If the other office staff appears to ignore you, and don't know how to bill insurance, I wouldn't recommend the practice.
Worst place ever. Office staff is extremely rude and was talking negatively about another patient in the waiting room when I checked in. Scheduled an appointment to have a chalazion seen and was very clear when booking the appointment that I have an eye doctor and only needed the chalazion seen. Rude office manager person kept telling me that I needed all the normal eye exam procedures before the doctor would see me. I already had them done back in August so asked why that was needed for the chalazion to be seen. She would not budge and said the doctor wouldn't see me without them but couldn't give a valid explanation as to why they were needed. I guess they just wanted to charge my insurance more $$. I walked out and called another ophthalmologist who said they would see me as a medical procedure and an eye exam is not needed to treat a chalazion. Such a scam going on at Key Whitman!!!
Great office and staff. I had a number of false starts on cataract surgery with another provider in the DFW area. Key Whitman was heads and shoulders above. All the staff, techs, docs and admin are all great.
What I really liked was all the supplies and documentation to prep you for cataract surgery. Do this, then do that. Also liked that they had my regular eye doc to a checkup after surgery to have an independent view on what was happening.
Very happy.
Worst office staff - doesn't answer phone calls and then doesn't call back when you leave a voicemail. I don't want to even go back despite them having a great doctor.
NEVER reached out to me today - just sayin'
