America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses

I don't know what they do to their glasses, but the lens quality at America's Best is terrible. I've been wearing glasses for over 20 years, and I have never experienced this kind of issue before. These lenses scratched way too easily for everyday use. It honestly feels like they're made to wear down fast so you're forced to buy their warranty or pay extra for some upgrade. For example scratch resistance ...even though my insurance covers it, they wanted me to purchase a warranty. These were both pairs! Even after a replacement, they do the same thing! I was told to make sure I'm using the proper materials to clean them...I used what came with the glasses! Now I'm stuck having to find a way to replace the lenses out of pocket because I can't see through the scratches . Very disappointing experience. I WONT be coming back. UPDATE (11/06/25) just because I'm petty and don't like being ripped off. I also wanted to make sure that it wasn't just me and me not appropriately taking care of my glasses as implied by the manager. I got a new pair of glasses from VISIONWORKS a few months ago. Has the same covered by insurance features I selected at Americas best. Use the same cleaners and cloths I been using for years....no issues whatsoever! No scratches or scuffs. Take your money to vision works! They know what they're doing!

I would give no stars if I could. I had an appointment in which I showed for. Upon entering I noticed about 4 employees talking to each other and not doing much. I wasn't greeted. I waited for almost 15 minutes for them to acknowledge me before I said "hey, is someone going to greet me and please tell me what to do. I have an appointment." I was instructed to wait in the back by a very impatient girl. She seemed very bothered that I was interrupting her social time. When I got to the back I noticed other people filling out paperwork (which I was not given nor was I asked to check in so they didn't even get my name). I was so turned off that I just left. The place inspired no confidence and I was completely turned off.

True story this amazing staff made something I'm not a fan of doing is going for an eye exam. I thought it had been a little over a year but I was so politely told it had been over 3 years since my last exam. When I walked in it just happened to be Saturday the last day before the 2026 freeze comes to Houston so they were short staffed but serving customers with short fuses and fussing with incredible customers service. I had to take notice and take time out to say THANK YOU. The world is so disrespectful right now seeing people serving people with kindness and empathy is rarely seen. Two young ladies that worked there helped me pick out the perfect frames. Ladies guys suck at stuff like this lol and one of them took the liberty to adjust and repair my current glasses. It was really cool and made my believe in treating people kindly is the right way to walk through this journey of life.

I've been going to Americas best for a long time now. But I haven't been to this location. Samantha she work in the front, with dreads she is extremely rude. I have Never received bad customer service at Americas Best until today. She even answered the phone while I was there and was rude to the customer on the phone as if she didn't want to be there.

I have been a customer with America Best for over 25+ years. I have never gotten such worse service with any of the stores. I never leave reviews but this has been very upsetting to me. I paid for my contacts to be shipped to my home and was told that it would only take 2-4 business days because I was not far from this location. Upon calling back after 6 days. I was told that they had not made it to the store. I said they should not be coming to the store as I specifically said that I wanted them mailed to my home to be told that they don't do this. Now I have relocated to Houston Texas and they are telling me that they don't mail them out to people homes they have to come to the store and then be mailed out. Now mind you I have move from 2 other states and they have mailed them out to me across states. The lady was so rude that I had to hang up because I didn't want to say something wrong. Now I get a call today with them telling my contacts was at the store. By now I am furious because this store told me that I could come pick them up after I paid for them to be delivered to my home and mind you I told them that I would not be in town and please can I have them sent to my home for this purpose. Well we can refund you your money and you can pick them up. Once again I had to tell her that I need to get off the phone. I didn't want to something I would regret. Then I called back and the young lady tells me that they will go out and it will take 3 days now for me to get an order that I paid for. Then she tells me again that they don't mail out to homes by now I am over the unprofessional customer service I got and said what I had to say and no one has offered to do anything for my inconvenience. I will drive out my way just not have to deal with this store again. If I could give zero stars I would. Thank you for nothing.

Friendly service, but once I pick up my glasses I'm never returning to this location for myself again. I don't ever wear my glasses and I've been to a few times to different optometrists in the past to get glasses and exams, but this was the most rushed exam I've ever received. I may be terrible at wearing my glasses, but I am not a stranger to customer service. If you have insurance do not use it here and just self pay. You are not told prior to exam services how much the lenses will cost with insurance only that your exam is $35 and frames are free and lenses are extra ( but no price ranges). If I was informed that it would be more than paying out of pocket I wouldn't have went the insurance route. I would have received 2 pairs of glasses for cheaper than going through my insurance. If you go through insurance I'd reccomend that you go through Sam's club or Costco Optical solutions. As they have reasonable prices with insurance and tell you the cost of everything before you go through the exam. I spent $135 for one pair of glasses here with my insurance when the cheaper 2 for $80 would've sufficed. Sam's club is super transparent and even with scratch resistant lenses my coworker with the same problems as me and the same coverage paid $80 at Sam's club. She also had the extra images taken of her retinas that I got here. The instrument that was used to take my retina images was sanitized where I put my forehead and chin, but not the actual camera (it was dusty). I came here thinking they were known for reasonable pricing and I feel as if I was scammed a bit. This is a great solution for people who do not have insurance. If I come back I will not use my optical insurance. They were very kind, but this is not the place to use your optical insurance at.

They might be America's Best Contacts and glasses but they are not the brightest because my last eye exam which was 2 weeks ago is not correct and they should have known from my previous exam that I needed a bifocal in my prescription so whenever I took my prescription to Eyemart Express my prescription is all wrong so I'm going to have to have it done by Dr Morales which is next door to Eyemart Express which means I've got to wait even longer for my glasses to be correct! You lost me as a customer again even when I change insurances I will not come back to you!!!

Always a good deal with America's Best eye care plan. Staff was friendly, appointment was easy to make online, and the visit went smooth overall. Decent prices and selection if you're looking to save money.
