Chong Eye Center

I have been a patient of Dr. Chong for over five years, primarily for annual eye check-ups, and I have always appreciated the thoroughness of the exams. However, my recent experience has left me quite disappointed. This time, I sought to schedule an appointment for an issue with my eyelid. After answering a lengthy set of questions from the receptionist, I was informed that the doctor would not accept my appointment request due to it being a new problem. I found this response unexpected and frustrating, considering my long history as a patient. While I understand that doctors have various protocols in place, it would have been helpful to have my concerns addressed more compassionately. My trust in Dr. Chong remains, but the inability to schedule a necessary appointment for a new issue feels discouraging and not aligned with the patient-centered care I had previously experienced.

I had an exceptional experience with Dr. Chong. His expertise was evident as he conducted a thorough examination of my eyes, explaining each step along the way and ensuring I was comfortable during the procedure. What truly set him apart was his genuine care for my overall well-being. He took the time to discuss not only my eye health but also how it related to my general health and lifestyle. This holistic approach was a refreshing change from previous doctors I've visited. Dr. Chong's attention to detail, compassion, and commitment to ensuring I understood every aspect of my eye health truly made a difference.

Most thorough eye exam I'm ever had! Dr Chong really knows his stuff! He asked lots of question, listened attentively to my concerns and explained everything he was going to do. He is extremely patient and kind. Great location with easy free parking. I will be back next year for my annual eye exam. I highly recommend!!!

I was nervous about going into my appointment since I have very sensitive eyes. After my visit with Dr. Chong, I feel more at ease about the health of my eyes. He is knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. I was impressed with the notes and information collected from my exam. You can gather right away that he is talented and extremely experienced at what he does. Highly recommend Dr. James Chong.

I had an appointment on 4/4/2025. Dr. Chong did perform thorough inspection and answer all my questions. When he found further issue and he helped to make appointment without hesitation!

I went to get an eye examination at Chong Eye Center about 2 months ago. Dr. Chong was very polite and professional the entire time (this is the reason why I am giving it a 2 star review instead of a 1), but unfortunately those were the only good qualities he offered. The equipment in his office were outdated; the process was lengthy, my prescription was inaccurate (way too high), and as a result I could not wear my new glasses which I paid 320 dollars for. I was also charged 180 dollars for the visit, which was pretty surprising given it's an eye exam. Now fast forward two months later, I just received a new eye exam. The office had way better equipment; the process was a lot faster and made a lot more sense, and I was only charge 78 dollars for the visit. I would recommend going somewhere else so you could save some trouble.

Dr. Chong is awesome! I went to him very concerned after having Shingles around my eye. He gave me the most thorough eye exam I have ever had. And explained everything that he was doing. Highly recommend.

Dr. Chong is amazing! I thought I had a particle imbedded in my eye and Dr. Chong fit me into his schedule immediately even though he had other priorities going on. He extracted the particle and also did a thorough eye exam explaining details and the equipment to make sure I was comfortable every step of the way. His exams are also incredibly thorough as I have seen many eye doctors in my lifetime and the only person who is comparable is my old doctor at Stanford. Will be bringing in the family to see Dr. Chong in the future.
