Nhu Q Nguyen, MD_Medical & Eye Clinic

Dr. Nhu Nguyen has been my family doctor for many years now and she's a 4 star doctor. I have gone here since my middle school years and high school years. This location is her new office. Dr. Nhu is very patient and kind and is very good with older Vietnamese patients, like my elderly dad who is 80. I am 25 now, with a full-time job and we still go here when we can, even though we live in the opposite side of town, in Gulfgate. With all these factors, we cannot go in person for our questions and have to really really call in for questions, big and small. We have called the front desk for many days back to back about a simple question, of filling my father's meds at a location nearest our home instead of the location in Bellaire. Again, if they had checked and really been customer-first, they would figure to have it filled at the Walgreens closest our home. It took us that many days for them to get back to us, but they did and it was a Vietnamese woman on the line. She must have been because we spoke Vietnamese and I have worked in customer service for many years, since I was freaking 12. And I always maintain a kind tone on the phone, no matter if I'm the one calling in or receiving. And this woman was so dismissive and belittling. She spoke in a way that suggested she thought I was a plebeian or stupid or o course, she simply had a bad day and needed to get off the phone. But Customer Service 101 is, no matter what, you are always kind. And she was anything but that. You can check my Google page and see that I only leave 5 star reviews when I can, but this time is not it. Navigating the health care system in America is already tough as it is, especially as a caretaker of my elderly father. Just help me. Just be gentle to your clientele and heck, most of the clientele at this office are older Viet folks who for sure, know less than I do about these things and I wonder if they ever get their answers in a kind manner ever. Is it so hard to be kind and humanizing to someone on the phone? Does Dr. Nguyen just hire anyone off the street? I don't know, but today's experience, the way we were spoken to, not even a good bye. Just, a long sigh on the other end of the phone as I asked, "is there anything you can help me with today, just getting the location of this Walgreens changed?" She didn't even confirm the address over the phone. Just, "I changed it." And the phone call ending. That was it. Not even a good bye. Just a fat, big rush to get me off the phone in 3 minutes. "You should do this, you should do that. We can't do much here." Passing it on to the next person, when I know something can be done here. Like our little question is a hot potato. You wanted me out of your hair. I'm not mad at Dr. Nguyen, just mad at today's interaction. Caretaking is tough and another person on the phone being dismissive about my father's care or just providing me an answer to a simple pharmacy change question in the way this woman did, did not help. I'm still grateful she had the patience with me in all of our 3 minute and 30 second call to do the Walgreens location change, but as I said, no confirmation of the location. Just dead silence, and a "I changed it." Our phone call ending. Like we didn't matter, at all, as patients. Or as people.
