It's a nice and easy process, from getting an appointment all the way to getting your glasses done. Their staff is super sweet and caring, they were able to describe every step of the way without causing any confusion!
To anyone considering getting an eye exam at this clinic, please read this before making an appointment.
I had my first visit on June 12, 2025, because I needed a new prescription and wanted to try contact lenses. The exam was surprisingly quick--less than 10 minutes. The doctor (whose name I was never told) didn't introduce himself, nor did he seem thorough. He changed the lenses just once, which was unusual to me, as other optometrists typically take more time to make sure you can see clearly. Still, I trusted the process and went ahead with the exam. He told me my glasses and contact prescriptions were the same, handed me a pair of contacts, and that was it.
I wore the contacts for two days, but I couldn't see properly at all. I returned on June 15, without an appointment, to let them know. They said they'd check me again, this time with another man (also unnamed, only stating he was a doctor)--a larger-built man with black glasses.
Right away, he pulled out a new pair of contacts and tried to place them in my eyes. I asked, "How do you know those are right for me if you haven't even checked my eyes yet?" He said he was trying a "different approach," which turned out to be removing the astigmatism from the lenses--despite the fact that I have significant astigmatism. Unsurprisingly, I still couldn't see well. I tried asking questions and expressing my concerns, but instead of addressing them, he hit me with this:
Him: "What do you do for a living?"
Me: "I'm a full-time nanny."
Him: "Okay, and how do you know when babies are hungry?"
Me: "...They cry?"
Him: "Exactly. Just like you know your job, I know mine."
I was stunned. Not only was the care unhelpful, but I was also spoken to in an incredibly dismissive and condescending way. I left without saying anything more and decided not to return.
I then went to another optometrist--and I'm glad I did. They told me both the glasses and contact lens prescriptions I had received from the first clinic were wrong. For context: I was originally given -4.00 R / -4.50 L, but the correct prescription turned out to be -4.75 R / -5.00 L, with astigmatism included. The new clinic also spent nearly two hours with me, explaining everything in detail, answering all my questions, and making sure I left with the right lenses--and I can finally see clearly again.
I highly recommend going to West U Vision at 6737 Stella Link Rd, Houston, TX 77005. Their professionalism and attention to detail were amazing.
Lastly, I tried to get a refund from the original clinic, but was told: "Whether the exam was good or bad, you still received a service." That was their final answer. The only kind and helpful person I encountered there was Melissa, the receptionist.
To sum it up: Avoid Optic Vision. Poor service, rushed exams, and a lack of professionalism.
This is my go-to place for new glasses and eye exams. They have a wide selection of beautiful frames, and everyone is very nice and helpful. I always feel welcomed here, and their prices are reasonable--unlike some other optometrists I've visited. I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends and family! :)
