I only have wonderful things to say about my experience with Dr. Shawn Kavoussi. I was struggling with large, blob-like floaters that obstructed my vision in both eyes. Dr. Kavoussi performed surgery and the results have been life changing. I can see clearly without the floaters drifting across my field of vision. I am grateful for the care I received and would highly recommend Dr. Kavoussi to anyone struggling with floaters. The improvement in my quality of life has been truly remarkable. The decision to seek treatment with Dr. Kavoussi was the best decision I could have made.

It was like a veil was lifted from my eyes when Dr. Shawn Kavoussi used a laser method to break up the vitreous fluid that had been obscuring my vision for the past several years and causing me to stop playing the piano and to discontinue driving a car. When floaters go from black squiggles to large beige gel-like blobs that slide back and forth like a curtain opening and closing with the slightest move, they can impair vision and impact quality of life. Dr. Kavoussi was a godsend for me because he turned years' long anxiety and despair into a couple comfortable and even relaxing procedures. First, after very thorough examination, a plan of treatment evolved. Dr. Kavoussi answered all my questions, explained the laser procedure, and encouraged me to make my own decision about which eye to treat first. I felt safe during the painless session, and quite comfortable. The results were immediate and excellent. Looking through my eyes is no longer like watching a magic lantern slide show. My vision is sharper, I can read piano sheet music again, and I'm planning to buy a new car. My quality of life is greatly enhanced with the help of Dr. Kavoussi. I find him to be an excellent listener, compassionate, and deferring to the patient's needs and best interests. That combination, with his high level of skill and knowledge, made my decision a no-brainer. I had no difficulty getting appointments, and staff was so courteous and helpful. Absolutely positively, wonderful experience.

I was here for an in office procedure visit that was completed under an hour. Surgery was an option for me, but considering my eye history, I decided to go with the floater laser for my left eye as a better option for me with better recovery, less eye drops, and less risk. Staff is great, I always have a positive experience at this office.

I am so thankful that my eye doctor sent me to Dr. Kavoussi! I had a a large floater that had been impeding my vision for 5 years. I also had a tear in my retina. On my first visit Dr. Kavoussi cleared the way to take care of both issues right then and there and I left with clear vision. And his staff was so kind and attentive! I recently had floaters removed from both eyes by Dr. Kavoussi and I have to say it was a great decision. My vision is completely clear of any floaters and I feel so much better. I had been told from one physician to just live with the floaters and I did for awhile until I decided to research and get a second opinion. Well luckily I found Dr. Kavoussi and decided to make an appointment and then had the procedure done to remove the floaters in both eyes, one removed in November and then the other eye a month later. I just wanted to let the public know that you don't have to live with annoying floaters in your eyes, it can be done safely and with excellent results. Dr. Kavoussi is fantastic and I highly suggest anyone with this issue go see him. It changed my life for the better!

Dr Kavoussi treated me for Retinal tears in both eyes. The laser repair was done in office a very simple and painless procedure, yet important to preserving your eyesight. I had also developed floaters in both eyes. This required surgery, although the floaters were not painful, they were causing vision impairment while driving. Surgery for the floaters was completed on different occasions as it does require an eye patch post-surgery. Dr Kavoussi is very conscientious in-patient care and even with the numerous questions and concerns I had he was patient and took the time to provide me all the information I needed to reassure me on the safety of the procedures concerning my eyes. His staff was always courteous and available when I called and promptly relayed my messages to the Dr. and provided timely feedback. Even though Dr. Kavoussi office is in the Houston Texas Medical Center, I felt it was worth the distance, time and parking cost for the care of my eyes. I trust Dr. Kavoussi 150% with the care of my eyesight and wish that he could take care of any future eye surgeries. Unfortunately, the cataract surgery is outside his scope as he is a Retinal Specialist and Ophthalmology handles the cataracts. Sincerely from the bottom of my heart... I can't thank or recommend Dr. Shawn Kovoussi and his staff enough for helping me get my vision back. Dr. Kovoussi has performed two procedures on my eyes in the last year and a half. First, I had an appointment with my local Doctor who determined that I had a possible detached Retina. I live 100+ miles from the Retina Center and was diagnosed at 8 AM, 4 hours later I was there and in emergency Surgery. In a week I was back to normal. The second was when I was experiencing "floaters" in my opposite eye. The best way I can explain them is they were like a large gel blob that blocked my vision. Every time I blinked it was like a windshield wiper that cleared my vision but the blob came back. Dr. Kovoussi suggested we try Laser removal instead of an invasive surgery and was told that it could remove up to 75% of it. I'm glad we went that route and while a small bit is still there, my vision has greatly increased. We did it in his office, dilated and deadened my eye and was driving home in 20-30 minutes. I would suggest the Laser first to anyone who are experiencing floaters. What I liked best of Dr. Shawn was he took the time to explain each procedure and gives percentages of what to expect with either success or failure. I really appreciated his honesty. When dealing with one's eyes there can be a lot of anxiety and nervousness but I completely trust my eyes to Dr. Kovoussi and the Texas Retina Center! Ronnie Warzecha
