Watkins Eye Center

I had my iLasik procedure a few months ago and I am so happy I decided to do it! It's so nice not having to wear glasses or contacts anymore!! My vision is amazing and Dr. Watkins and his team are just awesome. They answered any an all my questions and definitely calmed my nerves. They make you as comfortable as they can and talk you though what they are doing during the procedure which really helps! I am so glad I chose Dr. Watkins and his team to do this procedure. I was pretty nervous about the whole thing but they made my experience better than I could have imagined. I highly recommend Watkins Eye Center!

Dr. Watkins has taken care of my family's eyes for 3 generations and over 40 years. We have always had great care from routine eye exams to cataract surgeries! We consider him and his staff as part of our family!

Dr. Watkins and the Heights Eye Center Staff are absolutely the best ever. I have been seeing Dr. Watkins ever since he started his practice here. I receive excellent care and consideration from everyone there. He will be missed very much but I wish him much peace and happiness in his retirement.

Dr. Watkins' staff are professional, thorough, and knowledgeable. They answered my many questions, regardless of how many times I repeated myself. I was reassured every step of the process that I had come to the right place for my iLASIK procedure. Dr. Watkins' many years of experience can be seen through the confidence that he demonstrates through every exam and through the actual surgery. A special thank you to Dr. Watkins, Karen, Rachel, Chris, Tori and Ke. Thank you for helping me finally toss my glasses !!

I regret choosing to visit Dr. Watkin and sincerely hope the terrible experience I had is one other patients will never find themselves in. The communication, bedside manner, and level of patient care was absolutely awful - I hope in writing this review, I can warn others who are looking for an ophthalmologist that Dr. Watkins is NOT recommended. The doctor did not even say hello to my greeting or acknowledge me when he entered the patient room. The first thing he did upon entering the room was look at my chart, speak to the tech who was also in the room about the reason I was there and then proceeded to check my eyes on his machine - all without saying one word to me. He never asked me directly what problems I was having or what brought me into his office, instead he communicated with the technician. 9/10 times I asked a question, the technician answered - not the doctor, which was quite worrying in itself. If I had wanted a tech appointment, I would have scheduled an appointment with a tech, not a certified ophthalmologist. My reason to go to this doctor was to get a second opinion on a diagnosis provided by my optometrist. When I asked about a procedure that my optometrist recommended, Dr. Watkins and the tech agreed. However, when I asked Dr. Watkins if he agreed with the reason the optometrist said I needed the procedure, I sensed frustration from Dr. Watkins and he dismissed the reason without giving any feedback. When I further asked about the steroid eye drops my optometrist recommended in addition to the procedure, Dr. Watkins got up, angrily said "an optometrist is not a doctor" and walked out of the room as I was still asking my question!! All the while, the tech remained silent and did not condemn the manner in which Dr. Watkins spoke to me not did he try to reassure me. I asked the technician his opinion on what just happened as I was shocked a medical professional would make a patient feel so small and unimportant to which he replied shortly "The Dr. doesn't agree with your optometrist." It is NEVER acceptable for a medical professional or staff to treat a patient with such little respect simply for disagreeing with another medial opinion. The whole point of getting a second opinion is confirmation for a patient to have confidence in what they are being told. This is the WORST medical experience I have ever encountered. I strongly urge anyone to read past the positive reviews on here and take them with a grain of salt. Do not go here if you want to be treated with respect. Dr. Watkins has no business treating patients.

Best thing I've ever done!!! My vision before was somewhere around 200/150 if I remember right. As of last week. I'm seeing 20/20. Dr. Watkins was great. He was very patient w me as I have had a really hard time with having things touch my eye. My glasses don't fog up anymore w all the humidity. It has become easier to play sports as well!! Love it!!!

I had Lasik surgery done at Watkins Eye Center at the end of 2018 and had a quick and easy recovery afterwards. The staff (especially Rachel Hernandez) is very helpful and the operation is done in a incredibly professional manner. They were also very involved in the recovery process checking in periodically afterwards to answer any questions I had!

Patients are run through here like herds of cattle. Andrew Watkins has absolutely no bedside matter at all. When I told him I would have to speak to my kids about the surgery, he asks me "Are they ophthalmologists?" He is very arrogant and rude. Horrible experience! I will find someone more compassionate.
