West Oaks Eyecare

Love is a beautiful thing. And that is how I am treated and cared for at West Oaks Eyecare. Dr. Audrey Nguyen has been my Doctor of Optometry (OD) since 2009 and it was she who first examined my eyes with modern equipment. I did not even know that there was such a thing as an Optiscan machine until Dr. Nguyen's staff used one to take high resolution images of my retinas. And they also used a machine that blew a little puff of air to measure the pressure inside my eyes. And another machine to take images somehow of the optic nerve in each of my eyes. Then Dr. Nguyen reviewed the results with me and explained them. Dr. Nguyen explained to me the importance of wearing UV filtering sunglasses when outside or driving to protect my eyes from UV rays - because it is possible to get melanoma on the retinas of the eyes! I did not know this until she explained it to me. And the Optiscan did show that I have a freckle on the edge of the retina of my left eye - but it has remained stable. She checks it every year. No indication of melanoma. But it is still important to monitor for any change. My appointment this year (2026) was on Friday, March 6. All of the equipment is like brand new. Not a spec of dust or on anything. All of the equipment works like brand new. And Dr. Nguyen really knows about eye health. She is checking the macula area for any sign of macular degeneration. She is checking the corneas for glaucoma. She is looking for any hemorrhaging in the retinas. She is watching the freckle in the retina of my left eye and comparing it to the high resolution images going back seventeen years. She is looking at the imagery of my optic nerves and comparing the current images to those of the past to watch for any signs of change or disease. I am overwhelmed with the quality of Dr. Nguyen's work and practice. Love is the right word. That is how I am cared for there. And expert. She is current and expert on eye health. She knows well her profession and cares for me and all her patients with devotion and expertise and excellence and love. You always know when you are under the care of the best of the best. It is so very obvious. And that is and always has been for seventeen years my experience under the care of Dr. Audrey Nguyen and all the staff at West Oaks Eyecare. Steven Owen Moore Houston, Texas

Dr. Nyugen was very professional and knowledgeable about the additional tests done on my eyes that are affected by other systemic conditions.
