If you have some confusion over what your eye care benefits plan covers and what your out-of-pocket costs are, beware! The office staff will be very defensive and hard to work with if you feel that they are applying your benefits incorrectly. I'm hard to deal with if I feel that I am being scammed, and I know I was a bit too forceful about my disagreement with them. That said, they should have actually gotten VSP on the phone to have them explain to me thoroughly why I am being asked to pay a lot more than what the vision plan says I am supposed to pay. After my disagreement with them, they mailed me my trial lenses and told me that they are releasing me from their care. They sent the prescriptions for both contact lens options. They didn't bother to CALL me to tell me that the lenses had arrived. They made me wait longer for them to arrive in the mail! This was a very passive-aggressive and pathetic way to deal with a patient. I will make sure to inform as many people as possible that going to this location means that they will treat your questions about your eye care coverage with a defensive attitude. For the record, I paid exactly what they asked me to. I could have argued the point, but for the sake of just getting my eye exam done, I paid. Later, I found out that it's VSP who is scamming me! Had the people at Switalsky Eye Care bothered to call me about my trial lenses having come in, I could have told them that and offered an apology. I think a lot of health care providers have a problem with their patients arguing over costs. My primary care doctor doesn't do this. If I ask about the cost, and there's a disagreement or confusion, his people work with me until we have an agreement on what the cost should be. There's no defensive attitude. They are a model of what a good health care service provider should be.
I've been a patient here for three years, but after this experience I won't be returning.
Over the weekend I developed a corneal abrasion, significant pain and light sensitivity. When I came in, I was met with an argument at the front desk about insurance deductibles rather than assistance. During the visit, I was not given any anesthetic or pain-relief drops and was told to "take a Tylenol," despite being in considerable discomfort.
The doctor confirmed twice that my prescription would be sent to CVS in Prosper. Instead, it was sent to a CVS in Dallas more than three hours later, delaying treatment.
This experience was frustrating and disappointing, especially given the urgency and pain involved.
Dr. Paul and the entire staff are amazing! I was able to get a last minute eye exam and order some new glasses. The staff thoroughly explained my benefits and set the proper expectations. The office is extremely business, but the team manages the customers very well.
Fantastic service. The front desk is excellent. The excellent doctor is kind, considerate and very proficient. The lady cared for me and gave me a retina scan out of an abundance of caution. I had not been in this office in years due to changes in insurance. I will be back
next year and thereafter
I read some really bad reviews about Dr Paul which made me nervous to see him , but when I went in today, he was very friendly, efficient, talked to me enough to satisfy all my questions and it was a very good experience. I made a special request that took a little extra time from the girls at the front desk, and they were great to help me.
Cleanliness, high tech equipment, staff at front desk and administering the test, and Dr Paul all get 5 stars from me.
I arrived at my appointment for 10:15 on 12/15/25, and was told I didn't have an appointment at this location. She apologized for the mistake:
Genesis was very helpful in changing my location from Plano to the Prosper office and made sure the exam was done today.
Cadence was very helpful in making sure I knew how to maneuver on the I pad to complete medical information.
Dr. Ghous was very professional and very patient with me during the eye exam. She explained the results and discussed a treatment plan along with preventative measures.
Thanks everyone!
