I want to share my experience in hopes that it improves patient care and scheduling.
Wait times at this office are consistently very long. I arrived over 30 minutes early for my child's appointment and am still waiting 30+ minutes past the scheduled time. This has been a recurring issue.
In addition, it is extremely difficult to reach someone by phone. Getting assistance often requires multiple attempts and feels unnecessarily complicated.
As a parent, I understand that medical offices get busy. However, repeated overbooking and long delays without communication show a lack of respect for families' time. We plan our schedules, arrange childcare, and take time off work to be here.
I hope the office reevaluates its scheduling practices and improves accessibility for patients.
From the moment my Son and I entered the door until our departure after surgery, the customer services were extraordinary. Professional, caring and concerned. Dr. Dhir as always gives the best care and his bedside manners are phenomenal. Keep up the good work.
Well, starting at the Reception, the Lady very Sweet and Polite to receive, thanks.
All enquiry about my visit, Dr I was to visit, very cordial gesture.
Waiting not much for my turn. The Assistant to Dr to check and Register all ready for Dr very nice way done.
Now Dr did wonderfull way the check-up and nice dialogue for him to my position.
All was very nice way my Eye Glass Prisceiption with Dr Priya Mathew
Thank you very much.
The front desk staff at this place were incredibly unprofessional and rude. They refused to check my wife in because she had a digital ID on her phone, despite there being a system in place to accept an email with the ID. The front desk person was even cussing while talking to another staff member, completely disregarding my presence. When I offered to get the physical ID, she simply started writing something and told me my appointment would have to be rescheduled to May without further discussion. The nurse was equally dismissive, stating that they couldn't see my wife without a physical ID. This level of customer service is unacceptable and I will not be returning.
My first surgery I had Laura & Matthew. Second surgery Matthew & Angie. Awesome team from start to finish. Dr Dhir treated me with respect and he is friendly and knowledgeable . Thank you Dr Dhir and Houston Eye. Highly recommend Dr Dhir.
I had my 1 month follow up after surgery on 12/13/25. Spoke to Dr. Dhir about my concern, that was quickly explained and put my mind at ease. Definitely happy with my treatment before and after so far. I we would recommend Dr. Dhir . Thank you Houston Eye.
Dr. Matthews is very friendly in tone and means well. But at the end of my past 2 appts, I did not feel heard as a patient. I felt like my needs were generic, and felt rushed to exit so that she can handle the next patient.
I get that there's an older crowd of patients, mothers, etc who all have separate needs and more intense eye conditions. My situation was different in the essence of me not having accurate contacts since 2024, right before my layoff. All I had was a paper of 3 unfinalized trials my last doctor gave me, once I was insured via marketplace.
Yes, deciphering different descriptions can feel like busy work. But when I'm at a 2nd appt and am figuring out why my contacts are a bit blurry in reading, although they are comfortable and aligned... I would think referencing those past numbers are deemed important to find the gap. Instead, after I expressed the direction I would like to consider as someone inexperienced and needing guidance from my doctor, I was hit with different terminologies without explanation and the passive yet assertive idea of me not "letting her to do her job" and once surrendering my suggestion to work with the paper as the non-expert, asked "what do you want me to do?" Meanwhile, I just had a check-in with your own assistant, who witnessed me not reading the last line in small letters multiple times, and you want me to leave and try these contacts so that you can see me at a later time because you're busy currently? No. We need to solve the problem during my scheduled appt and you need to take a moment to breathe and hear me. Especially if I live far away.
I also noticed a trend of "going off my chart" and yet the specific conversations I have not being told. For instance, I was given the option to pick up the contacts *or* to schedule a follow-up. When choosing to do a follow up, but- due to a work obligation, later calling the office to see if I can pick up the contacts and follow up after - I was told my chart said nothing of the kind.
On a lighter note, front desk was very kind and helpful after my follow-up visit upon expressing the miscommunication. Overall I'm just trying to listen to my body and my eyesight...and I appreciate her for being able to help the lobby flow while also prioritizing my concerns.
Depending on how the next appt goes will I continue as a patient with HEA. I still have to order my glasses but I don't even want to show up if I'm going to continue to feel like a nuisance for whoever is scheduled after me, if I'm being honest.
Such a pleasant atmosphere the the staffs provide the moment you arrive. To top that is the personality and approach of Dr Ou that would made my visit such pleasant visit. Dr. Ou is so professional and so caring. Thank you Dr. Ou for being f so caring g and so professional.
Extremely frustrating and disappointing experience due to poor and untrained customer service. This was a follow-up appointment from last year, and I am a cash-paying patient with no insurance. I clearly confirmed multiple times--when scheduling the appointment and again during the confirmation call--that no additional payment would be required, as this was only a follow-up and no dilation was needed. I was very explicit because I did not want to waste my time or the doctor's time.
Despite all of this, when I arrived for my appointment, I was told by the front desk (Marsila) that I had to pay $184 before being seen. I explained the entire situation, but she insisted that everyone else was wrong and refused to let me proceed. When I asked her to verify who had confirmed my appointment the day before (and confirmed no payment), she claimed she needed time to research and would call me back.
It has now been two days, I never received a follow-up, and I was never allowed to see the doctor. This experience clearly shows a lack of accountability and concern for patients. If Houston Eye Associates truly cared about patient care, management would have been involved immediately instead of turning me away after months of waiting.
Very disappointed. I will not be returning and would not recommend this office to others.
