Be prepared for a surprise when you go here. If your medicare insurance plan provides for a free annual eye exam, you may find out that you are being billed for a medical and diagnosis visit with the accompanying specialist copay. We went a few weeks ago for a routine eye exam which is covered 100% by our Medicare Advantage plan only to find out later that because the doctor discuss cataracts in our eyes, we were billed $25 each for our specialist copay. Every other eye exam we have had on a medicare advantage plan has been 100% covered but not here. My cataracts were identified three years ago and the only mention of them was that they were unchanged and so was my overall vision. So, instead of a 100% covered routine eye exam, we ended up paying $50 of our grocery money for what should have been no cost. The racket of miking seniors is alive and well here.

My oncology doctor needed me to go see an ophthalmologist for a drug reaction to keytruda The old lady who called me to schedule the appointment was rude and unprofessional, and I scheduled my appointment when I arrived. The staff was very friendly, and I was ushered into the back. The gentleman that did the check up on me and most of the work was a super nice guy on par very polite, very professional. I was sat in a room waiting for the doctor and when the doctor arrived, everything went south Dr. Jones specifically mean, rude condensing and I could not figure out why I mean you're in the service business no empathy like I'm 62 and she is by far the creepiest health professional I've ever had to deal with and I have stage three lung cancer and I've never left a review like this ever for somebody but gotta call a spade to spade so It's all good old Dr. Jones scheduled a three MRI session for me and I had to have it and come back 100% negative nothing wrong that That appointment was seven days ago not one word from this clinic. I bet they build my insurance company point being if you need to ophthalmologist I cannot condemn the whole clinic, but I would stay as far away as you can from Dr. Jones because that lady is Mean anyway, I hope this helps you on your journey. Recently I was sent by the VA to get my eyes checked at this Clinic. I had a very good experience there. The Staff, Examining Nurse, and Doctor was friendly and Professional. They got me in at the appointment time, explained what they were doing and Dr Lambson took plenty of time to explain what he saw so I could understand what was going on with my eyes. I would definitely recommend this Clinic.

1st time at this clinic. First lady I saw that did various testing was okay. Dr. Ketcher didn't 'grade' my cataracts so I have no way of knowing if their getting worse. He spent maybe 5 minutes with me. Come time to check out & was told I owed $25 co-pay & $45 'Pre-Payment Elective', what the heck, I was expecting to pay 0. When I made the appt, I told them I just needed a basic exam w/ new prescription. I will NOT be going back & contacting my insurance company!

Recently moved to Tyler from DFW and chose DeHaven because it was convenient (Christus). I have a higher contact eRX (-11.75) and the clinic didn't have an account with the manufacturer to order them. They did write me a new prescription, but it's hard finding a vendor to fulfill it. I messaged to discuss alternative recommendations and was simply told to go to Wal-Mart (they also are unable to order the lenses), without any discussion of my patient care. The individual responding to my messages and clinic overall seems uninterested in providing even minimal assistance concerning my eye health. The few times I've been in-office the front office staff, particularly a female with shorter hair and a bluetooth ear piece, didn't contribute to a welcoming environment. I don't require a warm embrace or a hug when i walk in the door, but I'd prefer not to feel like my presence is a burden. I wouldn't be surprised if this individual was the responder to my portal messages. I've unfortunately utilized my annual vision benefits at this clinic, but will attempt to dispute the visit with my insurance provider. I'm sure there are optical clinics in the Tyler area that are more interested in providing quality care than this one. I hope to find one of these clinics shortly, I'm in a bind as without my lenses - I'm legally blind and have no quality of life whatsoever.

My mother called ahead to make sure that her insurance was in network so we made the appointment. I took off work to drive an hour one way to take her. They have huge waiting areas which they fill like a cattle lot. The entire appointment/consultation/surgery booking took just over 3 1/2 hours. Today they call me to tell me her insurance does NOT cover them. Then when I call the front desk to cancel pre-op appointments I am told the insurance DOES cover. Now they just called back and said no, it does not. Pack a lunch if you decide to go ahead with an appointment, you will be there a while.

The person at the front desk who answers the phone for the Tyler location is absolutely horrible and should not be working there. She is absolutely rude for no reason. I was being nice until I realized that did not matter to her because she was going to be rude no matter what. I called to schedule an appointment and make sure they took my insurance, because another place said they did but when I showed up they said they did not. Apparently this was too much work for her. Her name was Felicia and she was hesitant giving me her name. I never leave reviews but this was ridiculous.

I am so blessed that I found this clinic and Dr. DeHaven! He is patient and kind and his staff is very professional. They do stay busy, probably because he is the best in town! I had my cataract surgery and have had absolutely no problems. Thank you Dr. DeHaven for the blessing of my clear eyesight back.....I will be back to get the other one done when it is necessary.
