When I called I explained that my son was on the spectrum and would possibly need extra time to get his exam done and the receptionist responded with, "that is fine, our doctor has had plenty of patients that are special needs". So that made me happy! The receptionist and nurse we had were amazing! The nurse was patient and friendly with my son. She took her time with him. My son found a toy in the office, the nurse said it was fine for him to play with it. Then it was the doctors turn. She was rude and not patient. I believe her name was Gunther, or something similar. The dr came in and immediately took the toy from my son, and told him he couldn't play with it. She then pulled out a Buzz Lightyear toy to help with the exam. My son went to touch it (remember he's autistic) she snatched her hand back and said "no!" Not sure if she was having an off day or what but we will not be going back to see her. When someone "has experience" with children on the spectrum I'm expecting someone that has patience and that's friendly. We got neither from that doctor. It's not hard to be patient with special needs children, and if you can't maybe you shouldn't work with them.
3 stars for several reasons, she never gave an intro to her self when she walked in, she didn't ask parents what concerns we had before preforming the exam, and when I did try tell her. she said she didn't want to hear them until the end bc she didn't want to "prefidice herself. But I wanted her to know what the occupational therapist told me to tell her so that if she needed to prepare something else for the exam she would have a heads up. She was short and ready to get out the door. It wasn't until after her exam she asked me "any other complaints I need to know about." We spent a total of 7 min all together. She even said (in a non compassionate way) you know I'm an ophthalmologist. DUH I know you are and as one I thought she would have had better bed side manner. Her work seemed to be adequate with the examination . but I will be taking my 4 year old someone else next time.
The doctor was nice enough, but he only spent about 45 seconds with me. Kind of looked underneath each eyelid and said, now, you're good. I'll see you next week here. So I asked him about a prescription for my vision. And he said, oh no. I don't do that, you'll have to go to an optometrist for that. Like it was below him to do that.
My experience in Webster was not as good as in Texas City. TEXAS City is a nicer office. The people are more professional. And are prepared for helping you. I had an eye measurement test, and that was good. But that was on Wednesday, and now it's Friday, I still do not have my "packet" nor my date of surgery. Doesn't give me confidence in a very important surgery. And a surgery that I need desparately
My visit was very pleasant. Staff was very helpful n explained all the different tests that were being done. Happy I chose this facility
I have been a Coastal patient for over 20 years. The doctors are first class and the staff is friendly and clearly engaged. However, for some reason that is unknown to me, their ability to schedule appointments is worse than poor. Expect to wait at least an hour to see a technician. Your patients are frustrated and discuss this amongst themselves while they are all waiting with out any idea about the length of the delay they will have to endure. FYI.
Great experience with the doctor and staff. Wait was long but the doctor and staff take their time with each patient which I appreciate. The inside needs a lot of work. The furniture is old and dated. Needs fresh paint. Aesthetically very unappealing. Please update your facility.
This place provides great medical care IF, and I repeat, IF their schedulers are capable of correctly running your insurance and getting you scheduled. My wife had previously been seen here and had a good experience. The last few attempts to schedule her for an eye appointment was met with ignorance, misinformation, hearsay. My wife is under a veteran healthcare policy plan that does NOT require a referral. We spent no less than 7 calls trying to sort this out. After being transferred 3 separate times (once to a voicemail), we made contact with a lady who insisted that we need a referral, despite us telling her that was incorrect. After calling our insurance and verifying that a referral was not required, we attempted to call back and clear this. The (same) lady on the phone didn't listen, would talk over my wife, and insist she was correct. She was so "confident" in her position that she had to ask someone in the background in the office to verify. If they can't even verify insurance, we'll find another office.
