Overall experience was very positive. Waiting times for referral, consultation through to surgery itself were very short (less than 2 weeks between each stage). Staff were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Information provided by the clinical staff was detailed, and they were more than happy to spend the time to answer my many questions. Surgery itself was smooth and efficient, and the team were brilliant. The post-op follow-up was reassuringly thorough, picking up a minor issue which delayed surgery on the second eye by a week. The results have been life changing for me - no cataracts, and better vision than even my contact lenses gave me.

I visited for an assessment for cateract surgery and approx 3 staff for various tests, all the staff were very friendly, professional and explained the procedure for surgery. I was lucky enough to have a cancellation appointment for 2 days later for this surgery.
On the day of surgery all of the staff were very nice putting me at ease. They explained each step of the procedure and when I was taken into the theatre for the surgery, they were all very professional with a lovely manner so I did not feel nervous or anxious at all. The actual surgery took approx 15 minutes and I felt no discomfort at all. Very pleased with how it went and I am recovering well.
New Medicare is easy to get too, the building is very modern, clean with plenty of seating and facilities.
I will be going back for the other eye once this one has recovered.
I would highly recommend using New Medicare.

My wife had a referral from Specsavers, who owns this business, regarding possible glaucoma. The only contact that we have had is from an ansaphone message, which was not very clear and took time from phone history to discover who it was from. A phone appointment was made with a receptionist, who appeared to be in training, until she was prompted for the postcode her directions were that it was near the shops. My wife attended the appointment, where tests were carried out, and she was told the consultant was ill and that she would be contacted within a week.
This was on the 3rd of June, over a month ago. The concern is that she has not ever had any contact by email, text,post, or paperwork from the appointment, only the original phone message.
As this is a national franchise, I have already made a complaint to the head office, with no reply.
It should not be on the patient to call the business to discover the reason. They are claiming money from the NHS.

I went for cataract surgery in September and was very impressed by the quality of service, the friendliness of staff and the nice clean new building. Everything was very clearly explained to me during the pre-operation visit, with the various options, and again when I went for the actual operation. Because of this I did not feel anxious at all about the surgery which went very well. I am delighted with the result and thoroughly recommend Newmedica.
