Abundo Eye Care

Most excellent service, care. Been going here for decades. State of the art technology available here for the best information to care for your eyes. The Doc takes time to explain and develop a good treatment plan. He is a friendly guy, very easy to talk to. Dr. Abundo is one of my favorite doctors in any type of medicine that I visit.

My husband found this gem of an Eye Doctor a couple of years ago. It took me this long to make the switch and I am so grateful I did. I feel completely well cared for by Dr. Abundo and his team. I learned some disheartening information, which will require follow up visits to understand completely, but am comfortable to put my faith in this wonderful man and his eye care team.

While I initially had left a different review- I feel it's necessary to make a change to it. Dr. Abundo clearly cares about his practice and I received a personal apology for my experience. I sincerely believe that it was because of my experience, not due to the less than stellar review. I no longer think my experience could have been intentional and it means a lot that Dr. Abundo himself connected with me to talk about the experience and reflect with me about it.

I went to this doctor in May 2025, for the first time for a regular eye exam. My previous prescription was still valid but I always go for a regular eye exam yearly. I go to my ophthalmologist for indept tests. But since I already had that exam I just wanted to get some new glasses. I have prisms in my previous prescription but during the exam dr. abundo kept trying to adjust the prisms, he finally settled on an adjustment that he thought would work for me. I agreed to try them and ordered pair of glasses. When. Picked up my glasses (I ordered a computer pair & distance) , the prescription was mixed up. So they were sent back for correction. Another couple of weeks. When I finally got the eye glasses with increased prisms I thought they were strong but was a told that I had to get used to them. I would wear them off and on because they were strong but I thought I just had to get used to the strength of the prisms. Finally after a few months I decided to ask my Optamalogist about this issue and she referred me for a second opinion. The second opinion doctor said that the prisms were too strong and lowered the prescription prisms considerably . Which worked better. I would not recommend abundo eye care if you have to use special lenses. Go to a Optamalogist. Response to abundo reply: I disagree with your opinion that the success of getting the best strength of prisms depends on subjective responses from patient. It depends on if the eye doctor has expertise in prisms. Again go to an experienced professional.

Dr. Abundo has been my eye doctor for many many years. He is very knowledgeable, very kind and very friendly too. He would always take time to explain everything about the condition of your eyes and provide you steps and options on how to take care of it. The shop is very clean, well organized and they have a really good set of frame selections from big brands, being trendy, classic or just being nerdy. They use state of the art equipments to examine your eyes and the staff are very kind and are willing to answer any questions about their product or help you out with your insurance. A lot of parking space for patients.

Abundo Eye Care is a Salt Lake gem. I have been going there for many years and have found them to be more thorough and competent than the competition. I really like the way they are not afraid to invest in new technology and tools to help diagnose the many possible eye diseases They are on the cutting edge of optometry. Their prices are reasonable and they seem to take all vision insurance.

Wife called to schedule her appointment and they said they were not taking new clients (she has been going to them for 10 plus years and followed them to other offices to be seen. When I tried to explain that I was not new, I was hung up on. Disturbing especially since I even would talk with the doc at his son's JD games and at drill competitions.

Not sure why they schedule you at a certain time, then make you wait more than 1/2 hr? Then only to hear from the unfriendly staff "that they are busy too, and they have other work to do". Doctor was good. But with wait times and front office I probably won't go back.
