Standard Optical - Roy Eye Doctor

Dr. Ellison was super nice and made me feel comfortable. I had broken my glasses and needed to get my license renewed which I wouldn't pass the vision part without glasses. Dr. Ellison, knowing the situation I was in and knowing how long it takes to get glasses ordered in, gave me a pair of contacts free of charge so I could drive and get my license. I can't even tell you how grateful I was that he would do that. It shows how much he cares and values his customers. Because of this gracious gesture I will ALWAYS be going back. Plus Tyler the optician was super nice and patient. I had to call him a couple of times to help me find a pair of glasses I could afford. I appreciate everything he did. And also the lady that took my first phone call to make my appointment was super friendly and the lady that took my payment for glasses was super friendly and helpful. She made sure to send me my receipt and prescription. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Everyone there made me valued as a person and customer.

I needed glasses terribly because I wasn't able to drive at night, then got a note from my son's school that I needed to take him to get glasses. I live close to Standard Optical in Roy and was seen within two days of making my appt. Dr. Ellison was great! He sent my son to the waiting room and told me that my son was faking it and doesn't need glasses! WHAT?! I literally took my son to Eyeglass World in Riverdale two years prior and they sold me glasses for my son!!! He could have BSed me and talked me into buying my son glasses he didn't need, but he was honest and saved this mama some money. Time came for my glasses, I knew I needed them. Dr. Ellison explained my vision to me in a simple way. Then I got to try on some cute glasses and Cameron helped me pick the cutest pair that fits my face perfectly! I had to wait for about four months to get them, but Cameron was kind and kept me updated regularly. As soon as they came in, he let me know right away and was just as excited as I was when I picked them up. If I could give Cameron and Dr. Ellison ten stars I would, but google only allows five. Plus, I loved the experience so much I took my mom in to get hers. I can't wait for her to get them.

I had Lasik on June 16 and love it! My experience has been amazing from the start. Anyone who is apprehensive, this is the place to come. They explain every detail, answer any questions, then offer peace of mind. It's a very delicate procedure and they all (Dr Williams-his assistants &staff-as well as where it all started-Dr Ellison & the staff in the Roy store) treat you with delicacy as well. I'm happy I have Standard Optical holding my hand through this. An amazing experience!

For years I would mention that my vision is still a bit blurry with my contacts. The doctor here would tell me that there isn't a stronger power lens to use. I changed jobs, got new vision insurance, and had to go to a new doctor at a different business to be in network. The new doctor put me in much stronger power contact lenses-- the exact same brand and style lens I had been getting from HERE. My vision is crystal clear now. So I feel like I was being lied to about the lens power as a means to convince me to get LASIK, as they do try very hard to sell you on LASIK every time you visit. Unethical.

The staff and Dr. Ellis were very friendly and efficient. I've been going to the Roy location for at least 10 years now. Also had Lasik 10 years ago and my vision is still better than 20/20.

I would give NEGATIVE stars if I could! I waited OVER A YEAR for contacts! I ordered contacts in June of 2022 and received notice this week (July 2023) that they were ready. I have bad a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE with this particular location. I have tried calling the store numerous times and I can have rarely gotten through. If by some miracle I did get through I'd have to leave a message that NEVER got a call returned. Now I understand it is difficult to work for a bad company but that is where CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS are useful to which the girls at the Roy location have ZERO! They are rude and extremely unhelpful.COMPLETE and TOTAL INCOMPETENCE!

Thieves and liars. 0 stars. Brought our 4 yo in for an exam + frames and lenses in January. Week after week we were strung along being told we would have the glasses soon. Zero communication. Zero knowledge. Even claimed they had never heard from us when we called weekly! Long story short, they finally told us they couldn't fill the prescription and then only refunded a small fraction of what we spent with them. GIVE US THE REST OF OUR MONEY!!! Horrible horrible store. They don't deserve anyone's business under this management.

I've been going to this location for quite a few years now and I've never had a problem. When I called to make an appointment Lindsay was really rude. I thought maybe she was having a bad day and didn't think much of it. Unfortunately I had to talk to her on the phone again about a week later, and it was absolutely horrible customer service! So Unprofessional! When I went in for my appointment I was "greeted" very rudely by a girl, I looked at her name tag and sure enough it was Lindsay. The other girls in the office were very friendly and Dr. Ellison was great, but I wont be going back to this location due to the horrible customer service I received from Lindsey.
