The care team during the exam was great! The optical shop staff was not so great. I asked to have my existing frames sent in to have my new lenses added & was surprised by a phone call telling me they broke. I was not ever informed that there was even a possibility of them breaking, I only found out after the fact that this is common with the type of frames I have. Fortunately the woman who sent out my glasses was not great at her job & forgot to have me sign a waiver. At first I was told I could get a discount on new frames which was almost as frustrating as being told my frames had broken. In the end I was able to select replacement frames, from a very small selection. I'm glad my glasses were replaced, even though these new frames are not what I wanted at all. I am very disappointed & will likely not return to Moran. I hope others do not have share this experience, I can't even talk about it without crying.
The staff was nice and efficient, which was good, because I looked at past reviews and they were not so positive. It was a busy day to see the doctor and the receptionist brought out water and snacks for those of us in the lobby waiting our turn. The doctor's assistant took her time with us, not rushing and did a thorough job in the pre-exam. Dr. Nakatsuka answered our questions and addressed our concerns and told us what to watch for if further treatment was needed. This was a great comfort. I would recommend this office to anyone needing specialized eye care.
I needed cataract surgery, and Dr Nathan Barlow was great. However Danielle, my nurse at the surgery area was fantastic! I had both eyes done on different weeks and she was the best! She told me everything that she was doing, how many drops to expect, which ones might sting. Her IV placement was perfest and almost completely pain free. She told me how long till I'd be in surgery, and had my Dr Pepper and cookies just about immediately when I got out. I hope everyone who has to have something done there gets so lucky. She even walked us to the elevator after. Absolutely the best patient care I have ever experienced.
This place has such bad reviews I am adding another one because I needed to go here but now I won't because they obviously treat people like crap. Guess I'm driving to SLC! Why not just close it down if you are making so many people miserable?
If I could give zero stars, I would. We really love our ophthalmologist for my 10-year-old who has special needs. However, the optical store staff could not be worse. With every single interaction we've had, there have been complications, confusion, and we drive 45 minutes each direction to pick glasses up. They are constantly ordering glasses in the wrong size and Overcharging, Or forgetting something. It took over 3 months to get some glasses ordered and back and my son REALLY needed them. For this reason, I will never return to this location.
When we used to use the location at the Salt Lake campus, we were totally pleased and has zero issues. These people at South Jordan are a wreck.
Maybe one of the worst experiences myself & grandparents have had, took my grandpa to get his cataracts done the first eye surgery the surgeon had to redo it later as he screwed it up the first time. Went to pickup a prescription after the fact in the pharmacy in house, we waited for 2 hours which was LONGER that the surgery for the prescription to be filled... second eye we made it a point to let the nurses know it took too long and that having people wait after surgery is insane. The nurse acknowledged this and sent the prescription in before the final eye surgery, lo and behold the pharmacy didn't have it ready and we waited another hour after surgery.
Final complaint: the follow up appointment was scheduled for 4:30pm, waited another hour after before my grandparents were even seen, nurse proceeded to tell them the surgeon tried to squeeze in 40+ follow up appointments in 2 hours at the end of the day as he was going out of town the next day...follow up appointment took 3 hours also longer than the surgery. Staff was disrespectful and it definitely felt like they were just jerking us around by the end. will never recommend the south Jordan location moving forward.
Dr Barlow is always great. My concern is some of the staff and their poor customer service. I scheduled my husband and myself for appointments on-line that were back to back only to find out that they really aren't. Apparently you have to call to get an appointment for two people together. The front receptionist was the rudest person we have ever encountered. I went back for my screening (which was excellent) and while I was in the exam room my husband noticed more people were taken back but not him. He questioned her about it and she said his appointment wasn't for another 40 minutes and he would have to wait his turn. She actually said "If you don't like it you can always go home" He asked to speak to a supervisor of which she said there wasn't one there. She then told other staff members he was giving her a hard time because the tech that took him back for his exam said he heard that my husband had been giving her a bad time!!!!!!!!
What type of childish game is this for such a professional organization. When he came out from his exam this receptionist was no where to be seen. Obviously she was aware of what she said and didn't want to have to discuss this with anyone. Much to her surprise I will be finding out her name and reporting this to her supervisor. After reading the other reviews it is obvious that this front receptionist is still there and apparently no one really cares about the customer service that is being provided to this community.
I went in to get my prescription eyeglasses. I asked someone and she showed me where to look. I picked a few pairs, set them out on the table and waited for an hour and a half for the employees to stop talking to each other and on the phone with airlines. Finally, I developed a new Cerebrospinal fluid leak from standing so long, which happens. It took 3 weeks to get well enough to go in. One lady said she would help me when she was done helping the person she was helping, but she was just on the phone with the travel company. Then she went and chatted with the bearded man as i stood there looking at them, and waiting. Then they were closing so i left. On the way out I interrupted their gossip to say I was just going yo go and that Id been waiting over an hour and a half. The bearded man said "I thought you were just looking around. "You shouldve picked something and brought them to someone". I said "I told this lady i needed help with the size and fit as Ive never bought glasses before. They just looked at me with no expressions.I heard them laughing as I was leaving. What on Earth? It was the worst experience. Don't waste your time. Im so sick now Ill probably have to go to the ER by ambulance later if this brain fluid leak doesn't stop. People need to think before they take a job in a medical service.
