No prior knowledge that I wouldn't be seeing a real doctor unless on a video call, appointment scheduled at 2pm and wasn't seen until 400 only to be told they were no updates to my contacts despite stating I wanted to switch brands. The contacts given to me gave me irritation and made my eyes red (as I had already stated they've done before) literally within hours after the appointment. The fact that there wasn't an actual eye doctor physically in the building is very misleading I waited 2 hours to have a picture of my eyes sent in on a portal then waited for a doctor with a green screen background to tell me my results, frankly this entire encounter could have been done on my couch at home on zoom and I wouldn't have wasted 2 and half hours of my life.
I have been going to this location Since before Dr. Ely sold it to My Eye Doctor. Last year, I had to wait over an hour for my appointment and I noticed a place had gotten pretty grungy for an office. Staff was different less professional the walls need painting and the carpet needs replaced, but I am a loyal customer and have been going here for over 15 years. Figured it was a fluke. Went back today. Place is even more rundown and after waiting more than an hour for my appointment, I just walked out. I will not be back. It was a shame at one time. It was a lovely office with friendly knowledgeable staff now it is a rundown dump. That doesn't care about their patients with a bunch of weirdos.
If I could give zero stars, I would. We booked our appointment online about a week in advance, and showed up 15-20 minutes early to make sure that we had everything in order ahead of the appointment. Right off the bat, the receptionist says "we are running behind" so we sit down to wait. Another patient goes back, and then comes back up to the front desk and says "they said the exam is going to be an hour, I am already running behind, I need to rebook" and the receptionist offers another time that week, and the patient says "will the doctor be here for that one, or virtual?" which was the FIRST time we had any idea that there wasn't an eye doctor on site. The lady preforming the pre-screening tests was pretty cold and huffed several times while just repeating herself while my husband was trying to get his eyes lined up on one of the machines. The eye exam itself was laughable, a remote eye exam?! We finally get to the end of the whole thing and are talking to the eyeware rep about prescriptions and I asked for printed copies of both the lense and the contact prescriptions. She says they only did the appointment for lenses. I say that I booked for contacts and lenses, and she goes off to look at my booking - yep, I did book for both. "Hold on, let me text the doctor and see what they want to do" isn't a statement that you would have to make if there was a doctor on site... The solution? Come back next weekend and we can fit you for contacts. By this point, we had already been there over THREE hours, and I let her know that we drove over an hour to come to the appointment. No other options, just have to come back. Also, because they had already billed and charged us for a lens and contact appointment, we couldn't go somewhere else for a contact appointment without paying fully out of pocket because our insurance only covers one fitting a year. We had also watched dozens of folks pick up frames $300-400+ in our two hour wait and then be told that after insurance and discounts it would be less than $100. We asked to have the lenses replaced in existing frames and the best they could offer was over $200 - just for the lenses because we weren't buying their frames. We left with just the written lens prescription and an additional appointment for the next week to finish up what should have been done that day. Not one apology. Not any sympathy for them messing up the appointment, zero empathy for our incredibly lengthy wait times or the time they were taking out of our days. Second appointment went just as well. All in, 5 hours of travel time for 2 appointments, 4+ hours of waiting in the waiting room, 2 different appointments, 0 apologies. Loosing 5.5 hours out of the middle of two consecutive Saturdays for an eye exam is not something we are ever willing to repeat. We will never use MyEyeDr again for anything in the future.
Dr Karen is awesome!! She is the only doctor there. MyEyeDr really needs another doctor there. Prices are definitely higher, which is hard for a lot of people right now. I needed a bottle of cleaner, which they have always given you a small bottle, but now they are charging over $3.00 for it. Abby helped me with my order for glasses. She was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Complete waist of time. They are nothing but a bunch of sales people that will swindle you. I was told this and that was not covered by insurance and knowing that it was. Went to another doctor and everything was covered. They can not keep an appointment. Had to take 2 kids and waited over 90 minutes to be seen. I will not be using them ever again. I would rather drive to Winchester or elsewhere to get honest and reliable service
Abby was kind and professional. She helped me pick out my glasses - gave me honest feedback - and was completely upfront with pricing and comparing. I also had Destiny as a technician and she was so easy to talk to and made the whole process comfortable. Thank you both and the rest of the staff!
We are very satisfied with the service we get from the Front Royal location of MyEyeDr. The staff is very courteous, professional and helpful. Abby is wonderful to work with and we enjoy seeing her during our visit.
Abby was so helpful & patient with me while I tried 100 different pairs of glasses on. The doctor was also so much help with it being my first eye appointment she answered any questions I had and explained everything very well.
