America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses

I've been there today for the second time. Horrible experience this time. The technician was very good and pleasant. Then, the ophthalmologist did the exam she had to do, after which she said she would order a pair of trial contacts for me. I asked her whether she recommends a brand other than the one I am using. She was reluctant, and then she said: "we are supposed to spend ten minutes max with a patient, but I'm giving you more time just because there is no other patient waiting outside!" Long story short, I went to the front desk to pay and get my prescriptions for both glasses and lenses. The staff were trying to sell me glasses online every way, and I said that I'm happy with the glasses I have and that I mostly use contacts. I asked for the prescriptions and the staff refused to provide them saying that: "the doctor cannot release the prescription till you get the trial contacts and come for a follow up!" I insisted on getting the prescriptions as this is what I went for an eye exam to get. She kept refusing, so I told her to cancel the trial contacts and issue my prescriptions right away. I had to wait more than 20 m knifes for her to check with the doctor, after which she came back and informed that the doctor canceled the order for trial contacts (which they usually provide free to all patients after an eye exam), and that they will print the prescriptions. It took 15 more minutes to get the prescriptions. I asked the staff whether there was a policy change, since I received the prescriptions immediately during my previous visit. She kept looking at her screen as she said that there is no policy change and that prescriptions are not necessarily provided during the visit! I left with no intention to go back there for whatsoever reason. Even more, I placed the order for the lenses somewhere else for less than half the price, and I got a free trial pair without asking. I will make sure to use this as a case study for my services marketing students starting next semester. It is an excellent example of substandard customer service. I'm also sure that they will not care to take any action on service recovery, because I saw the response to other people's reviews; they asked other customers to send them an email with their experience. Really? They have access to the contact details of any reviewer who visited any of their branches!

I can always get an appointment within a reasonable amount of time. I have never waited longer than 10 minutes. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Also, they have a membership u can purchase for $99. Thus includes a free eye exam once a year and 20% off glasses and contacts. The membership is good for 3 years. Considering an eye exam costs, $99 for 3 years is an excellent price. Love this place.

Giving 2 stars because everyone out front and the first woman who did the first part of my exam were absolutely wonderful. I have been going here for years but haven't been in roughly 2 years. I had the worst experience with Dr. Patel. My previous doctor had me on an as needed basis for my glasses and the point of my appointment was to see if I needed to wear them full time now, or keep them as needed based off of my exam and if my sight had changed. She then proceeded to tell me if I can't wear glasses all day how can I wear contacts all day? We never talked about this or how I'm an adult and if I needed to wear glasses all day, of course I would. I opted for contacts over glasses because of my job. She then advised me again about how if I can't wear glasses how can I wear contacts? Also how contacts are extremely bad for your eyes because they can scratch your eye and blind you. I simply continued to ask her recommendations on whether I needed permanent wear glasses or not where she then continued to tell me "I can't tell you that" which is odd considering she's literally my eye doctor. Then would huff and put the eye thing to show me revision differences multiple times. Repeating what she said above multiple times. Even after I told her i understood but wanted her recommendation on whether my eye sight was needing glasses or not. We went through this 4 times until I just gave up. I've worked in customer service for years and so I always try to give grace, but this just left me speechless. I will not be returning and after talking to multiple people about this, they have said they switched too because of the eye doctor here. I have never had this problem here, I was extremely disappointed.

had an appointment at 12:20pm, wasn't seen until 1 pm, the place was not busy, there was one person in there other then me. then back to the waiting room for another hour before being seen again in the exam room. this place has went down hill, highly recommend going anywhere else to get your eye exam. don't have any plans for the next 3 days if you plan to come here.

I have new insurance that I have never had before.. needed a contact lens exam so came here as I've been before for eye exams.. I gave them all my insurance info and they were having a hard time finding me or if they even took my insurance. You would think that you'd CONFIRM a patient IS OUT OF NETWORK BEFORE allowing the appointment to continue! Thanks for wasting my time and for nothing but ROBBING ME of $120 that had to come out of rent!!!! I WILL NEVER COME BACK!!!!!

Terrible experience. With the doctors for less than 15 mins, waited for their "sales people" for almost 90 minutes in order to check out and leave. Amazingly frustrating. Will never be back to an Americas Best.

Easy appointment next day super polite in and out 20 min. Shouting out Layla in case you offer service incentives for staff she was great

Said a 45 mins wait an asked if this would be ok after we already drove 35 mins there. Said the visit would be a remote visit because they didnr have an eye doc there. Waiting an hour 1 hour an 20 mins an still no eyep exam ! Do not make an appt you cant formally an if you know you csnt reach out to customer eithban explanation an ask if it will be ok an if not . But noo sent 23 emails confirming a damn appt I could have drove to Charlottesville for
