My experience with this particular office is less than satisfactory. I have no problem with the staff performing the actual eye exams. They are excellent. My issue is with the staff processing the purchase of the eye glasses. I ordered my glasses and waited patiently for them to come in. I went to pick them up and they were worse than my original pair. They were blurry and not even bifocals. Or even the frames I had chosen. After a brief argument with the lady handling the transaction about the particulars of my prescription (she claimed I wasn't prescribed bifocals), I was told I would most likely have to come back for another exam and start over. (I'm guessing my prescription got mixed up with another patient's. That does happen occasionally. Especially when someone is waiting on at least 2 people at the same time.) Two weeks later. I get a text telling me my glasses were again ready for pick up. After wearing them a while I realized it is nearly impossible to read with them without placing them on the very tip of my nose and squinting. After looking at the closely I discovered the bifocal section for reading was extremely small and the line was WAY lower than on my original glasses.
Instead of returning them and spending another 2 weeks waiting, I took my prescription and purchased new glasses from somewhere else. At least this pair was done right. And correct on the first try.
Now I have a pair of $400+ glasses that are pretty much useless. (I know I'm not the only person who has had issues here. During both of my visits I overheard and observed at least 2 other patients with messed up orders as well.)
My advice... for whatever it is worth, is this. This My Eye Doctor location is excellent for getting your examination, but don't waste your time (or money) ordering your eye wear from there.
Our family has been going to this location for years Dr Welch is a wonderful optometrist unfortunately the office is no longer in network with Medicaid for children or adults. If your insurance is in network highly recommend seeing her.
I've been a loyal customer for almost 7 years, but I'm done with this place. Their online system is a nightmare -- you can't use your existing prescription to order lenses unless you buy directly from them. If you want a printed copy of your prescription or access to it online, good luck! Their platform is designed to force you to purchase through them, even though they're already billing my insurance. On top of that, their prices are ridiculously inflated, so you end up paying out of pocket no matter what. This site is not worth it anymore; there are plenty of better options out there. Very disappointing experience.
The patient care team is awesome. The optometrist took time out of their busy schedule to explain why my prescription had drastically change. The staff took their time and made sure I bought the proper glasses for my new prescription. The original pair of glasses was defective. Managment replaced replaced my glasses without hassel. The staff truly cares about their patients and they treat you like a family member.
For years I've used the my eye dr by Costco, always left heavy hearted and frustrated. Never once had a good experience so we decided to try Parkview. They are night and day comparison.
Staff were great with my children. They had a large selection of kids frames and took time to ensure my girls were satisfied with the frames they picked out. From the front office staff to the office manager every single one of them were very knowledgeable and professional.
my son was a first year student at James Madison and he told me that he was almost out of contact we were from out of town. I called several places they were being very difficult prescription. Just expired a few months ago and I just needed to get him an eye exam and then a new prescription for new contacts. He doesn't have a car so I needed to get it. Knocked out this weekend eye doctor was the only place that had common sense they're very courteous. It was simple to set up the appointment super fast got them in the next day and everything is done with the doctor virtual but it's really quick very thorough. She communicates well on the screen with the patient and the parent. I was extremely pleased with the staff. The pre-testing is fast. It's done with their machines they don't dilate pupils they do pictures, which is so nice because you don't have to leave out of their blind. I would definitely reuse them again. In fact I want hope that we have one in our home. But the technician and the front desk receptionist went above and beyond to help us out very kind but again super fast we were in and out of there within 45 minutes and that's from start to finish I don't remember the technician's name, but she was extremely quick, thorough, pleasant and knew what she was doing. Very knowledgeable and the front desk lady Lynn went above and beyond for us from the moment I talked to on the phone to when we checked out, she even offered to meet my son to drop his contacts off, which again is above and beyond to help us out considering we are out of town also, first thing that we have ever been given and all my kids were contacts including me is that if you lose your contacts if they're torn or you find that your vision is not good with them, they will replace them for free
I came here hoping for a better experience than the Reservoir St. location. Big mistake.
At my first appointment, I was given a pair of trial contact lenses. I told the doctor before I even left that my right eye felt blurry, uncomfortable, and like the lens wasn't sitting right. I was told to "give it time" so I did.
The next day, same issue, blurry vision and a dizzy, vertigo-like feeling when I turned my head, so I scheduled a follow-up. That appointment was a disaster. The doctor had me try on at least 6 different lenses, giving me barely a minute between each one to "adjust," which is nowhere near enough time for toric lenses to settle.
Every time I told her the blurriness was getting worse, she just repeated "I don't know what to do" or "I'm running out of options." Not once did she try a different brand until I was clearly fed up and in pain. My right eye was so irritated from the repeated insertion/removal that I physically couldn't tolerate putting in another lens.
Finally, she brought out a different brand and it still didn't help. She then ordered yet another lens for me to "try at home," and surprise: still blurry, still uncomfortable. This wasn't professional troubleshooting, it was pure guesswork.
Also worth noting: I had my toddler with me, visibly exhausted in a carrier, because nap time was the only appointment time they had open. The doctor seemed annoyed by his presence, as if I should've left him at home for a basic vision check.
The only positive part of this experience was the young assistant at the front. She saw how tired my toddler was and went out of her way to accommodate me during pre-tests. She was kind, validating, and the only person in that office who made me feel like a human instead of a burden.
Bottom line is I left with blurry vision, wasted time, and zero real help. I won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone needing actual care, especially if you're a parent or someone with astigmatism looking for solutions, not shrugs.
I broke my glasses on a Sunday. I was due a yearly exam so I went on line and made appointment for the next day Lyn was able to find a pair for my lenses to fit in till my new order was ready she has always done a great job for me
