The staff at the Lynchburg location, were all friendly and very professional. Dr. Amanda Griffin was efficient, patiently listened to my questions and gave answers that resolved my concerns. GM Pierre, helped me with selecting frames and going over different options for my lense type. I went with tint/ transition lenses. Overall, a very good experience and I plan to return for my next exam!
America's Best - A Masterclass in Wasting Your Customers' Time
I scheduled an eye exam appointment with America's Best. In the days leading up to it, I was bombarded with reminders - texts, emails, confirmations I had to manually reply to - all to make absolutely sure I would hold up my end of the arrangement. I did. I showed up on time, paperwork completed in advance, insurance information submitted, credit card in hand, ready to pay. I did everything right.
America's Best did not.
First, I stood waiting ten minutes just to check in - only to have the front desk re-collect information I had already submitted online. What, then, was the point of the online intake? After that, I waited another twenty-five minutes past my scheduled appointment time. No acknowledgment of the delay. No apology. Just silence and a waiting room chair.
Finally, I was called back. Progress - or so I thought.
Once the staff reviewed my eye health history - information, I will remind you, that I had already provided during registration - I was abruptly informed that my condition required an in-person examination with a doctor. Confused, I responded: "That is exactly what I'm here for. An eye exam. With a doctor. In person."
That's when the real absurdity began.
I was told that I had inadvertently booked a remote appointment. Apparently, buried somewhere in the online scheduling process, there is a small, easily overlooked checkbox that defaults to a remote visit. The staff member even admitted - calmly and without a hint of irony - that "everyone misses it."
Let that sink in. Everyone misses it. By your own staff's admission, your scheduling system is fundamentally broken. You know it confuses and misleads customers. You know people are showing up expecting the in-person exam they believe they booked. And yet you have done absolutely nothing to fix it. Instead, you let people drive across town, sit in your waiting room, hand over their personal information a second time, and then - only after wasting a significant portion of their day - you turn them away empty-handed and tell them to rebook.
That is not a minor inconvenience. That is a systemic failure in your customer experience, and it is completely unacceptable.
I lost nearly two hours of my day - time spent driving, waiting, filling out redundant paperwork, and ultimately being dismissed without receiving any care whatsoever. No exam. No solution. No accountability. Just a casual suggestion to "make another appointment" using the same broken system that failed me in the first place.
This is not how a legitimate, customer-facing healthcare provider should operate. When your own employees openly acknowledge that your booking process misleads "everyone," and your response is to shrug and send paying customers away, you have made a clear statement about how little you value the people who walk through your doors.
America's Best is, without question, America's Worst. I will never return, and I will make sure everyone I know understands exactly what kind of experience awaits them there. You don't deserve a single customer's time, trust, or money until you fix what you already know is broken.
I spoke with Andrea at the front desk and she was absolutely fantastic and so incredibly kind as well as helpful. She worked above and beyond to make an appointment to suit my availability. Unfortunately, after I made the appointment, I found out that I had already made a previous doctors appointment that day and I wouldn't be able to attend. I called Andrea back and explained that and she never once was irritated or rude even though I explained I would like to wait to reschedule so I didn't have to call again if another medical appointment popped up that I missed on the phone. She was so kind assuring me that there was no need for me apologizing and she understood that some things like this happen and everything was definitely fine. After we were done she wished me a happy holiday and said she'd be here whenever I was ready to reschedule my appointment. In this day in age it's very rare that you get anyone anywhere which treats you with kindness and doesn't rush you to get you off the phone. However, this was definitely NOT sweet Andrea. I'm very thankful for her understanding and kindness and will return when I finally have availability to make an appointment. And truly because of your sweet employee named, Andrea!
Thanks again,
Renee
The worst experience ever with an eye doctor. I am not sure how many times I can say, dont change my contacts. I dont want dailies, I have sensitive eyes, then do the exact opposite. Then refuses to make my prescription what I had before and tell me I can take my business elsewhere. Well I will along with my 3 kids and never recommend your practice again.
Typically I have a decent experience with America's Best but for some reason this time I have had a bit of a challenge with them. Overall, I am giving them a 3 star because typically they have not been a problem. This past time I was in the office for about an hour and a half to two hours for a contacts exam and to order contacts. They were short staffed that day (not blaming them for people calling out) and it made the process much longer. The biggest complaint that I had was they had my contacts for about 2 weeks and I never received communication about this. I ended up looking up my order on my account to find out that they had been delivered 2 weeks prior. Slightly irritated by this past experience.
Made an appointment for 10:50, at 11:30 I asked about how much longer it would be. Still 2 people ahead of me, probably another half hour to 45 minutes. When I make an appointment I should be seen at that time or informed that they are running behind. It's over an hour drive for me to get to the location. Just do better Americas Best....
I had an emergency with my glasses. My lens had been hit by a ball, and fell out. My frame was bent as well. The staff was very kind and thoughtful to help me. They repaired the glasses quickly and made sure that I was well taken care of. Highly recommend!
Very uninformative! Never called to let us know the glasses were ready for pickup, when we called about the second pair of glasses we were just placed on hold and never helped. Upon the initial consultation the receptionist never explained the more durable lens options for the frameless style glasses and never informed about the warranty that can be purchased. The only thing this place has going for it is you can get two pair of glasses for a fair price without insurance. So if you have good insurance or you can afford the extra few bucks I'd recommend taking your business elsewhere! However there was one man and one woman (younger black lady) there that is very knowledgeable about glasses repair and very informative about everything regarding service and glasses options. If you do decide to go there request one of those two workers
