Virginia Eye Clinic: Dr. Timothy J. Wilson & Associates

I didn't think it was possible for an optician to fulfill a prescription for eyeglasses, and because you happen to choose the cheapest frame, and didn't go for a more expensive frame, that you would not get a hard eyeglass case but a flimsy eyeglass case. I asked for one and was told no. In the past, I went to another optician in Lynchburg and at that time, I also got the cheapest eyeglass frame for my prescription. From them, I received a really nice hard eyeglass case for my eyeglasses to keep my prescription eyeglasses protected. Is it too much to include a nice protective hard case for a customer's prescription eyeglasses? Even cheap sunglasses in a department store can come with hard eyeglass cases. I was very surprised and will not go back to Virginia Eye Clinic to have a prescription filled again.

I haven't been to an eye doctor in over 14 years and dealing with a previously diagnosed astigmatism and issues that come with it, I knew it was time to take my vision seriously and get checked out. I decided to come to Virginia Eye Clinic per my wife's recommendation as she is already a patient here and I am so glad that I listened and went here. They were up front, honest, welcoming and made you feel comfortable. So it turned out that I do need glasses and they were very accommodating and patient in helping me select a pair of frames that were to my liking and met my budget in the process. If you are looking for excellent eye care then this is the place for you to go. I also recommend Dr. Anderson, ask for to see her when making an appointment.

Dr. Wilson is extremely competent. When you ask questions, his answers are very clear, straight to the point and easy to understand. While the doctors and staff are both very nice, they aren't up front about which tests are optional and push you to do one's that aren't necessary or covered by insurance. They also really don't like to give you your prescription to order glasses online, which I understand, except their options are very very expensive and you end up paying over $200 even with insurance coverage. I continue to go back because they're kind and I feel that they do a good job, but I really would appreciate a few small changes to not be as pushy.

I had a prescription filled for new glasses last year and the eye clinic observed all COVID safety guidelines. The receptionist was friendly, and the ophthalmologist was professional and competent. Most importantly I have never been more satisfied with a new pair of glasses, I can see so clearly.

Dr. Wilson is phenomenal! I had gotten a shard of glass in my eye and was in excruciating pain. It was a Sunday when the office was not open but he told my husband and I to meet him there in 30 minutes and he would help me He got the glass out, cleaned the area, and wrote two prescriptions for me. I would have had to go to the emergency room if he had not been so kind. He truly cares about his patients and their well being.Thank you Dr. Wilson!

I've been going to VEC for my annual eye exams for about seven years now. While I appreciate the professionalism of the staff, there are a few aspects that I find frustrating. First, almost every time I go for my appointment, I am taken in late, and I end up spending at least 2-3 hours at the clinic. I understand that some patients may require more time, but this should be factored into the scheduling to help respect everyone's time. Second, despite having insurance, I still paid around $120 for my eye exam this year. While I understand some screenings are not covered by insurance, these additional costs are rarely explained as "optional." Clearer communication about this would be helpful. Finally, I'm often given products at checkout, but I'm never told how much they cost until it's time to pay. I believe the staff should ask patients if they need anything before adding items to the bill. These unexpected add-ons can make an already expensive visit even pricier. That said, the professionalism at VEC is exceptional. I wear contacts and have had several issues over the years. Both doctors have been extremely helpful, especially when I've torn a contact without realizing it. Most recently, I had a case of eye mites, and I was grateful that the esthetician could fit me in. She helped me leave with a new prescription and gave me advice on how to treat the issue. Although the visit was costly, it was a relaxing experience, and I felt much better afterward. She also helped me find a natural mascara and recommended an eye wash to keep the mites at bay.

Dr. Wilson is always super helpful and informative. He always gets me what I need, even if there is a shipping delay and I need something fast, he will make it work! I love coming here and will continue to always come back! Thank you and your wonderful staff!
