Martinsville Eyecare Center

I had went here in the past, and I had felt that this clinic was worth returning to. After my previous visit this past week, I retract my previous assessment. I went to have an eye exam to secure a prescription for contacts. The physician applied numbing drops after my evaluation instead of prior, which registered to me as ineffective and pointless. Then I was told I had to attend a class to "learn" how to insert, remove, and provide care for my contacts. I found that odd but went along with it. When I informed the receptionist at the front that I needed to schedule the course, she then tells me it will be $125 to attend said class - absolute absurdity, and I voiced that. To compound the issue, they are holding MY prescription for my contacts hostage unless I take that course. I paid my exam visit, which includes my prescription, but they did not honor that. They are gouging people for a course that is not even needed. It would take a few minutes to tell the patients who have no experience, but instead they are charging $125 on top of the cost of the contacts. That is pure greed - plain and simple. I have experience inserting and removing medical contacts, yet they still will not give me my prescription. I do not recommend this clinic whatsoever. They are clearly more interested in monetary gain than their patients.

I had an appointment on March 10, was told I would be getting a call from Vista Eye Center for Cataract review. I have called several times and given lots of reason why I hadn't heard from Vista Eye Center, today July 31, 2025, I call Vista Eye Center and I'm told they haven't t received any thing from Martinsville Eye Center about a referral. Gurrrr! Called back to Martinsville Eye Center and spoke with Michelle, very pleasant lady and she explained she had never gotten any information to send in anything, but she could see in the doctors notes it was supposed to have been done. I called many times and I guess it was easier to make up reason than to really check my chart and do a follow up. This is very disappointing to me since I've e gone longer not being able to drive at night or see well enough to read signs, books etc. I hope you have better luck if you need a referral I'd make sure you call and check, don't believe the reason they give you for not getting called from Vista Eye Center.

These people are wonderful. I had a vision emergency and needed to see someone quickly. Unlike other places I called (where sometimes the scheduler was in another city), this place has an amazing woman working up front who spoke with me and got me in right away. I saw Dr. Ali, who did a thorough exam and figured out the problem. Everyone there was extremely nice and professional. They were so helpful and I'm very grateful to have found them. I am definitely switching to this eye doctor now. They treat you like a human, not a number.

Another great visit! Staff is always friendly and helpful. Even though insurance would have paid for updated lenses and frames (as it would have in the past), Dr Bechtel and Dr. Ali both have said I am good for another year with what i have. I appreciate that and learned they are about the person and not about making an up-sale. Very trustworthy!!

Dr Betchel was great. The staff not so much. The girls who supposedly help you with your new glasses were not helpful or very friendly. Seems like they were more concerned with getting in the back room then helping make sure your new glasses fit properly and your vision was clear both near and far. My vision had changed quite alot and I needed some help with my new glasses and they basically shooed me out the door as long as I could read the bottom line. Get much better service at Walmart

Martinsville Eyecare Center is the best place, by far, for eye exams and Glasses. Very Fast service. You don't have to wait around for a Doctor to see you. Doctor Oliver is very informative concerning Eye care. All of the Staff are very knowledgeable, Friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Martinsville Eyecare Center.

Just had my first appointment at Martinsville Eyecare Center. I have been to many Optometrists over the years and I know that really good doctors are hard to find. I could not be more please than I am with this business. Staff is friendly, professional, caring and knowledgeable. Dr. Theresa Bechtel, in my opinion, is amazing. She provided a very thorough exam. She then explained her findings and the options available for my problem. I'll never go anywhere else. Dr. B said 'My patients deserve the best" and in my opinion with her, we have the best. Highly recommend to everyone.
