Pros: easy to make the appointment and the staff performing the exam were great. Prices are reasonable still Cons: horrible online order process. Over various americas best stores for in 15 years, commonly saw the front staff with poor customer service. Buying glasses there can feel like buying a car with how long it takes and the sales pitches. Recent experience: When I got my paper prescription at checkout, I knew the prescription would not work for me. I notified the staff checking me out if I could speak to the doctor. He told me no, at this point I would have to get a glasses with the new prescription, try them, come back to say it's not working to get re-checked/ adjusted.. They assured me the glasses are refundable if the prescription doesn't work. I ended up getting a pair from them online since the wait to get help buying it in the store was going to be a long wait. Got my glasses in the mail, the prescription didn't work and the frames were very bent. I went back to the store and the staff scheduled for me a follow up. I inquired about the return and they told me I would have to do it through the website for online orders. Another week later, I got rechecked and the prescription updated. The doctor asked why I didn't just say something when I was already here the first time and confused why the front desk would tell me to get glasses anyways... For the online order, I've reached out a few times to return the glasses. I was told a fedex box will be sent for the return for real this time and I will get my refund once they receive it and verify the item.

I am giving two stars solely because the staff who conducted the eye exams were excellent and professional. Unfortunately, my experience purchasing the glasses was very disappointing. In hindsight, the pricing was excessive for what we received. My son and I both have very mild prescriptions, yet I was charged over $400 for two basic pairs of glasses. The associate who completed the transaction appeared either inexperienced or unfamiliar with the pricing and options, and the checkout process felt rushed. After reviewing the receipt at home, I noticed several add-ons had been automatically applied to my son's glasses without my knowledge or consent. These were not designer frames, and I was not informed of any promotions, alternative options, or given guidance to help select frames within a reasonable budget. I also was not advised of what features were necessary versus optional. While the exam portion of the visit started off positively, the sales experience left me feeling rushed and treated as just another transaction rather than a valued customer. Because of this experience, I would not recommend this location.

The examiners were polite and efficient. The whole experience, from beginning to end, took maybe 30-45 mins. Yalayah was an absolute delight. She was in training, but processed the paperwork for me while making the process fun and enjoyable. The NN location is definitely my favorite. Thanks so much, Yalayah, you're doing a fantastic job!

I have brought several pair of glasses from America's Best. Today was the worst experience that I've ever had with any of them. A total waste of my gas and time. I selected several glasses that I wanted to get a price estimate on . There were two young ladies on the floor-one or two customers and reception. After selecting a couple of pair of glasses that I wanted to get an estimate, nobody acknowledged me so I asked if I needed to sign in at the reception desk and I was directed to do so. I don't know if the young man is new but he said I didn't need to sign in ans to return to the area that I was just in. When I advised that they told me to see him, he asked me if I had a prescription. I told him that I knew my prescription but did not have it. He went to talk to someone in an office and came back and told me the price their glasses start out. I am aware of the glasses start out as because it's clearly posted on the frames themselves and on the signage above the glasses. As I have worn glasses since I was 9 years old and I'm now 68, I know that the total price of glasses is much. higher than that . I can to begin the process of getting glasses. I left and frustration because no one wanted to help me to that end . I will be seeing my regular office where I'm treated with respect and interest as a customer

I'm not sure where the 2 for 189.00 are, or 2 for anything really. I had my own prescription and needed no exam, so we went straight for the glasses. No 2 for anything else was offered, but I figured it was because I did not get a exam. Still, the700.00 price tag was a bit high I thought, but someone else came over and adjusted something I don't know what. I guess we will see when they come in, still about 500.00 not 2 for anything. My wife had the exam, and ordered 2 pair of glasses. One sun glasses (which we supplied our own frames) and 1 regular pair of glasses, which they only had 1 set of frames. The lady said they would cut the lens and send them to the store where they would be mated with our frames. 2 days later that was a no go and we had to bring the frames to the store to be sent to the lab, Another delay. Now I have always been pleased with price and services offered before. Don't know what has changed, but a little to pricey, I guess we didn't? qualify for 2 for something? Yes, we did get some items added to the lens, but 700 plus and only 1 set of frames. Along with we can do this, oh no we can't now it will take longer?! I do not believe in the future this will be the place for us any longer. No telling what will happen when the glasses finally come in, not looking forward to that for sure. #####Update!!!!!! After several months trying and finally getting our glasses, we were told that the remaining balances would be forgiven because of all of the issues we had at this store. Today 2/02/2026 America's Best (ha) sent us a bill for the amount they said they would forgive! I took them at their word that it had been corrected. Now either it was an oversight, miscommunication or an outright lie ! I am soooo very tired of this with these people !!#####$$ UPDATE!!!3/3/2026 Despite the District Mgr telling me I did not owe anything and that I should not have been charged again, I received another bill today! It was for less because of insurance, but NOT because they took care of it as they said they would!! Unbelievable !!

I was assisted by Kenny. He was very attentive and accommodating. I was looking at getting 2 pairs but the price wasn't what I was hoping and he understood that from one look at my expression and asked what I was willing to pay for both. Walked out with a very good discount. If you're planning on going, ask for Kenny and he'll hook you up.

Today I had an eye exam appointment for my son at 1pm at the Newport News location. Once I arrived I was told that my appointment has been cancelled. The young lady behind the desk was no help as to why my appointment got cancelled. I did not receive a call, text or email in ref to my appointment cancellation. I asked for a manager and was told by the manager that due to the time of my appointment the examiner is about to go on lunch and because they have back to back appointments she is unable to squeeze me in. I expressed that this is unacceptable and a courtesy call would have saved me the time and gas that I wasted!!
