I just visited their office for an eye exam and glasses. I asked how much the exam would be and they said $144.00. I said that was fine and I would pay cash. They asked me if I had insurance and I said Medicare. They insisted I use Medicare and I told them I would rather pay cash. Medicare does not pay for eye exams. They will deny it and I would get a bill from them for much more than $144.00. They said that I had to use Medicare. My wife was there a week earlier and they did not have a problem letting her pay cash. She also had Medicare. I left and went somewhere else. I'm not going to allow these people to play me. My wife and I will never go back

They mark up their contact lenses so they can offer you a "discount". Be careful and get prices other places. They priced us at $550 for a full year supply of contact lenses with insurance coverage. We paid $390 last year for same ones. We checked other places, online, and in store and they all quoted less than $500 before insurance. With insurance it will be $350-$400. Save yourself a lot of money and don't go here. Also messed up paperwork so we need to have them re sign the prescription. They also don't answer phone calls. They have gone way down after their merger with another doctor. We will not go back again.

I've been to a good number of optometry practices over the years, and in the midst of inquiring about other options in my area, I received a great recommendation, and that's where Nilsen comes in. From the initial communications with a representative who works there, to the moment I stepped through the door for my recent appointment, from start to finish, the overall experience at Nilsen was great! I've been a customer for a few years now, and this past experience was not pleasant. I came in on Dec 31 around 4 pm and ordered a new pair of lenses for my frames. The next day I realized it was mistake to go without glasses, given my eyes were starting to hurt without them. It was New Year's Day, so I waited until the Jan 2 to call when they opened, asking if I could change my order to get new frames and lenses and have my old pair returned. I was told I could not change my order or have my old glasses returned. It's is now going on day 15 and I still do not have my glasses. It's a long time to go without glasses. There has also been no communication during the process. It's been a bad experience and one worth sharing about to others.

I've been a patient here for about 15 years and have always appreciated the care I received. That's why this recent experience has been so disappointing. I called to schedule an appointment, and the phone just rang and rang. Eventually, instead of speaking to a real person, I got a generic text message saying I could make the appointment over text. When I finally did get through, I was told the next available appointment for a Tuesday wouldn't be for four months. In all my years coming here, I've never once had to wait longer than a couple of weeks. A four-month wait for a longtime patient feels completely unreasonable. At this point, I really have no choice but to go elsewhere, because I need to be seen soon--my contact lenses are running low, and I can't wait months for a basic appointment. I hope the office can make improvements so loyal patients don't end up feeling pushed away.

My appointment itself went fine. I received exceptional service from the optical department selecting frames for my face. Thats where the good service ended. They billed my vision insurance and had me pay $80 out of pocket at time of service. Almost nine months later I receive a bill in the mail showing they also charged my medical insurance claiming I have dry eye syndrome and a gland dysfunction in both eyes, which is a LIE. I simply needed to stop wearing the brand of contacts that I have been wearing for the last 30 years. I now supposedly owe an additional $155. You better have deep pockets to go here. You will pay and pay again. And if you think you have problems going in, they will make up some additional diseases to keep charging you.

What a ideal experience! This is the 1st time I've needed glasses as an adult and Nilsen made the process so smooth and they genuinely cared about my concerns on picking the right frame and lenses for me. They have an opulent selection and 30 day satisfaction guarantee. One pair of my glasses came in scratched and because they have a quality check upon arrival, Nilsen had already sent them back to be replaced. I love proactive companies! In addition to this, the staff is amazing as a whole. You can see the cohesiveness as the staff works together towards the common goal of providing a customer experience that exceeds expectations!

The best of the best!! Always great service! I was down to my last contact due to some very bad luck the last few weeks. They found me a rare contact to wear while I wait for my year supply.to come in. Very kind and caring!
