The team at this America's Best location is top notch. They are kind, attentive, and patient to every customer who comes through the door. I've been there when it's very busy and appointments might be running behind; nobody of this team loses their cool or acts disrespectfully to anyone in the store nor on the phone. I'm a loyal customer to this AB in Roanoke, and will continue recommending them to my friends.
I picked this for hours after work. They called me at work wanted to know if i could come early. Ok, I get there didnt even get my coat off a disheveled young gentleman rushes me back does a few look at this that then I sit in a room where a Dr comes on TV. Really? I thought I was seeing a Dr not one that seems to fit me in between others on tv screen. The gentleman forgot something I had to go back in other room. Still hadn't time to even remove my coat. The Dr checks few things then shows me what my current look like looking through them then what my new prescription will be. First your showing me what I'm looking thru with current glasses is nothing like what I'm actually seeing. The supposed new script I am getting looks good. I go on to say about my diabetes then the gentleman says oh well you can cone back to get that checked I didn't read your history well. Go out to glasses and they are are small very few to none are a comfortable size. Get my glasses in other place. So I wasted my benefits. I can't see nothing everything is blurry nothing like what I was shown would look like through new lens. I got 2nd pair same. So I'm stuck for a year before I can use my insurance to get a proper eye exam and glasses I can actually see through plus who knows if my diabetes has effected my vision any more. Oh I have cataracts on both eyes? What's that mean? That was Americas Worst.
Got eye exam and purchased glasses. Had to call to find out they were there. Went to pick glasses up. They were supposed to be bifocal. Instead they were single vision not my prescription. New lenses need to be made. A week later again I called and was told my new lenses were in. I picked my glasses up only to realize later they were not transitions. So again I went back. The manager used something to clean the glasses and put them under ultraviolet light. They were dark. A while after I left they had lightened up and seemed to be smeared. I tried to clean them with a gentle soap and water. But the lenses were damaged from the cleaner that was used. The next day when they opened I requested a complete refund and reinstatement of my insurance benefits. Not I have to wait 7 to 14 days to be able to go somewhere else. Sad very Sad!!
Alexis is such a wonderful advocate! I had some difficulty finding comfortable contact lenses with a newly diagnosed astigmatism so it took some trial and error. With Alexis's help I was able to find the best fitting and affordable option! Without her assistance I might have left more confused, but she did a great job. Highly recommend her expertise!
America's Best got both my contact and glasses prescriptions wrong, requiring three visits before I finally requested a refund on the glasses. When correcting my contacts, I was told the originals were "just samples" and given different ones that irritated my eyes and caused migraines. Staff refused to recheck my glasses prescription, insisting they didn't need to because "contacts and glasses are never the same." I was called back for an initial fit, despite still not being able to see clearly. I was then told my glasses would be sent out for correction and that no additional exam was needed. Weeks passed with no updates. When I called, I was told the glasses were "ready," which was false -- they had never been sent out. Instead, they wanted me to come in for a fourth visit to recheck my eyes before ordering new lenses. The manager was not polite, only professional, and repeated the same incorrect explanations as staff. Wait times were 3+ hours, optometrists were not on-site, and overall communication was terrible. One staff member appeared unprofessional with dirty, chipped fingernails. I got a refund and returned to my previous eye doctor. Do not recommend.
This place is so slow I will probably have time to get a degree in optometry while sitting in the waiting room. My appointment was at 4:10, it's currently 4:45 and the front desk tells me it will still likely be an hour FROM NOW before I'm seen. This is absolutely unacceptable.
- Editing my review to add that, while this trip was incredibly frustrating, big shout out to Cameron for being so kind, and for working as hard as he was. If it wasn't for his genuine empathy, I don't know if I would have stayed as long as I did. I finally left there at 7pm, so, take this as a warning to anyone hoping to visit an eye doctor mid day, you may be there for upwards of 3 hours.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! I've been here multiple times at various locations in multiple states. The old lady receptionist can't see and barely hear. The woman was supposed to assist, she didn't. In fact, she came to gather credentials to verify my insurance then got snappy when she was unable to DO HER JOB and said I need to call my insurance. No actually, your staff needs a class on customer support and thorough understanding of insurance policies. I have the best insurance with Cigna that clearly says vision on the card. She was rude and short with me the moment she realized SHE WAS INCOMPETENT. Never again! Waste of time! Go elsewhere people!
Went in a few days ago for an exam and there were two people working, the manager and a sales associate. It was after work hours and they were slammed, it took 2 hours to get in and out but the manager and associate did the absolute most. I wish I could remember their names, but you guys were so lovely to everyone coming through the door. No one was huffy or irritable (even though you both had every right to be). They just kept going and trying to make people feel comfortable and taken care of at the same time. The Dr was kind and knowledgeable but the workers that are actually in the building walking you through all of this? They're what makes this place a five star establishment even when they're getting their butts kicked. They will do their absolute best to make sure you get what you need!
