I went to Blue Ridge Optical based on the recommendation of a co-worker, and was immediately pleased with the location, available hours, and the merchandise selection. The knowledge and professionalism shown by George Keene was exactly what I was looking for in my search for a new optical company. He answered all of my questions and went into great detail about the no line-bifocals, frame types and materials ensuring I was provided all of the information I needed to make an informed decision. I ended up purchasing two pairs of glasses...(1) normal everyday no line bifocal, which transitioned to sun glasses when going in and outdoors often during the course of a day, and (2) prescription single vision sunglasses for when I am outdoors more than inside...on vacation, or beach trips or anytime I don't want to have to keep changing from one pair to the other. Not only have I found Blue Ridge Optical to give my business to, but I will be heartily recommending them to friends and family.
I went to pick up my glasses for the 2nd time, since they can't get my prescription right, and my glasses still are not right, the man that waited on me was very rude to me and couldn't care less if I got my glasses or not, my case was left when they were trying to fix my glasses and they lost my case and when I asked about it I got a rude response from him, then he reached in the basket and pulled out a very ugly case and handed it to me. The other staff members I worked with there were amazing, maybe he was having a bad day just remember you are working with customers.
I am now stuck with a pair of glasses that are not right and I don't want to go back..
I have been to this location and others. Never had a an issue. Unfortunately recently Dr. Kevin T. Coolbaugh, O.D., Optometrist, wrote me multiple prescriptions. This was due to my optical place realizing it was a duplicate prescriptions multiple times. Which I communicated.
I was informed by office manager I was making up things as she spoke to National Optical and flipped their words. Long story short I was informed I was difficult and dismissed. Never corrected my prescription nor told me what I had done. Here is proof not signed by General Manager. Wasted my insurance and tossed me. Be mindful. Too date no call nor told of client policy I violated. Sent many referrals there.
We were helped by Gregory here for my husbands glasses and he was AMAZING. He was very helpful, has a great sense of humor and made the experience enjoyable for us both. He also was able to help with my husband's current pair of glasses to make them more tolerable until his new ones arrive. Will definitely be back. Thank you so much, Greg!!

Took my Daughter there today for her eye exam. The Dr and Nurses are great. Went to check out. Was told to go next Door to get her new Eye glass prescription. Me and my Daughter walked over the staff seen us. Never came out to ask us if we could be helped with new glasses. Or what we needed. Very rude on that side of the business. So I walked back to the other side and asked if I was correct in going over there to get my Daughters prescription. They said yes. I explained I had been over there for sometime was the only customer there. And no one would help me ask me if I needed anything. I had to then speak very loud to get my Daughters eye glass prescription. And we left. I believe they need work on that side of the house very rude. Lack of customer service. They do need work.
just now-EditI called in to get my prescription over the phone. When the call was answered, I was not asked if I could hold, I was simply asked how I could be helped and so I went into the reason I was calling. The lady asked for my information which I provided. I was trying to get my prescription over the so that I could order some sunglasses online at a much cheaper price. The lady that answered the phone was extremely rude stating that "You can't order online, you have to pick up the paper prescription here in our office." Almost like she didn't even hear what I was asking. Then she proceed to tell me when I asked if she could just mail me a copy, she said "Well I can't do it right now, I'm with a patient." It was so crystal clear, one she hated her job, two she was aggregated that I wanted to save some money by ordering my glasses online or three because I called in period. Not sure if she was just having a bad day or what, but because of how she treated me, I will definitely not be back for eye exams or glasses. I think it's pretty silly she couldn't give me what I needed over the phone after fully verifying me, but could send a fax less than 5 mins later. Cute.
It is against the law to give prescription information over the phone. That's why they can't tell you any specifics other than they have your prescription ready. Feel free to Google it
