Miss Georgia had such an amazing first visit with the team at Animal Eye Care. Everyone was kind & gentle with Georgia from start to finish. Dr. Church was incredibly thorough, explained everything in a way that was easy to understand, and took time to answer all of our questions. I'm so grateful to have found a place where I know my dog is getting the very best care. I couldn't recommend them more highly!
The doctor saved my babies eye. So happy with the service we received there.
Dr. Nadalstein and Dr. Gift have been the reason my girl has vision. They are extremely knowledgeable, kind and caring. The prices are extremely reasonable. I live 5 hours away and would travel twice that for the care that they give. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. I feel grateful to have been referred to them. We were even able to stop by the beach on the way home.
If your pet has eyeballs, Dr Nadelstein is your guy. He saw my dog on short notice and treated him with such care and calm you'd think we were the only patients on his schedule. My dog is completely obsessed with Dr Brad, apparently this is a side effect of excellent veterinary care. Move over chinchillas - Bear has officially claimed the top spot on Animal Eye Care's fan list!
Love this place ! The doctors are GREAT! They take amazing care of my 11.5 year old girl. 2 eye surgery's, complete care start to finish. They explain everything!
3/4/25 We had an emergency situation. Dr. Nadelstein was amazing, explained all the options and we have the best plan in place for "Cleo's" best outcome!
I want to express my concern regarding my dog's recent treatment. Eight months ago, I paid for the removal of a small, benign eyelid tumor, which included an exam fee of $115. At that time, the clinic mentioned a one-year recheck. My dog's tumor has returned in the exact same area, and I was charged again for a recheck and the same procedure. I am concerned that the recurrence occurred so soon after the initial surgery. I also want to understand the reasoning behind charging the full surgical fee again when this is a follow-up issue from the initial treatment.
Ethical clinics often have a "recurrence window" or partial coverage if something regrows shortly after surgery.
This clinic did not offer that explicitly, and certainly did not feel obligated to give a discount.
Do your research before coming here. Dr. Church was very talkative (could not get a word in after statements she made because of the amount of fear speech she implied while discussing...freeze n snip vs actual surgery and its risks associated). Although I did not mind her expertise, none of it addressed the reasoning behind the costs associated with rechecking a dog with the exact same issue and location she had addressed just 8 months before.
I was told there would be a 1-year recheck the first time, which implies the first procedure should cover follow-up. But I was charged a recheck fee.
February 2025-
Exam fee for small benign tumor on eyelid- $115
Procedure-$560
8 months later (less than 1 year)
Recheck fee-$85
Procedure-$560
The tumor is in the exact same spot, suggesting the first removal may not have been complete.
Charging full surgical fees again in this context feels like double-billing for the same issue, which is ethically questionable.
No E-collar advised. After so many direct questions to her and her staff..why wouldn't I put an E-collar on the dog to prevent rubbing his face against the floor and furniture?
And that's exactly what he did. (Went and bought an E-collar).
Sent home with no pain medicine. Asked several times for it while in the office. Was simply told he doesn't need it. The procedure was non-invasive. When I stated to Dr Church what I'd read online, she immediately stood up and ignored the rest of my statement as if "you can't believe everything you read off the internet."
The dog should've been sent home with pain medication. None given. Asked several times to both the assistant and Dr Church.
My husband called the Virginia Beach office again and requested pain medication, so finally they sent us to their Yorktown location to get his "weight" for the pain medication dosage.
And last. They want "you" to call "them" in 2 weeks to let them know how your pet is doing. When I asked shouldn't it be the other way around? I was told they cannot keep track of all the pets. I am 100% certain they can keep track of your pet if you owed them money.
I was dismissed by Dr. Church as well as her staff when I brought the above to their attention. Days prior, I called her front desk to ask questions prior to coming in and was told the office manager would call me back. No one did.
Today, I asked why that never occurred. They did not have an answer.
I took my dog back to Animal Eye Care (Dr. Church) because she performed the original procedure 8 months ago.
Today, I stayed and allowed the procedure again out of desperation of not wanting to see my dog suffer. I fly for a living and needed to address the issue before I left again.
Just do your research. Due diligence goes a long way.

We would like to thank Dr. Nadelstein and his team for seeing our little 2-year-old girl here in Virginia Beach. We drove from Bella Vista, Arkansas to see Dr. Nadelstein. We knew it was a slim chance of our little one regaining her sight, but wanted the BEST for her and we knew this was the place to bring her. Unfortunately, Dr. Nadelstein gave us the news we were afraid to hear, but we knew it was a honest and most of all caring diagnosis. Dr. Nadelstein performed every test to find that bit of hope we were looking for, but unfortunately it just wasn't there. It was a retinal issue from birth that caused CocoPuff to not have her eyesight and this team of experts helped us identify this. Again, we could not have been in better hands and we greatly appreciate Dr. Nadelstein and his clinic for the outstanding and caring service rendered to us. Highly recommended and a huge thank for assisting us with our little CocoPuff. Thank you so much, Laura Weatherspoon and John Tipton
I recently had to take my fur baby to the vet due to issues with his left eye, and I wanted to share my experience with Animal Eye Care. From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. They immediately assessed the situation and helped me understand what was going on with my pet's eye. The veterinary team was patient and explained all the treatment options clearly, which made me feel confident in the care my pet was receiving.
After a thorough examination, they provided a treatment plan that addressed the issue promptly. The follow-up care was just as exceptional, and I'm happy to say that my fur baby's eye is much better now. I truly appreciate the expertise and compassion that Animal Eye Care showed. I highly recommend them for anyone dealing with eye issues for their pets.
