Virginia Retina Center

My mother has been coming for treatment for about a year. The staff is friendly and the doctor who is in charge of her treatment is very knowledgeable and helpful. The downside is the wait time to get seen. Every appointment has been 2 hours long, if not more. This is not 2 hours of being seen by the doctor, more like waiting for an hour and a half or more to be seen.

The staff is very nice and diligent, the facilities are very clean and up to date. My provider is Dr. Gauthier and he is great! I know that my eyes are in very good hands

I was blessed to connect with this establishment upon my arrival to Virginia. I was here a few months and became a patient of Dr. Gauthier. The care that I have received has been phenomenal. The staff has also been very kind during my year as a patient. It was very important for me to have the proper care because of diabetes. I can't say enough of my excellent care that was given to me and encourage those who seek to have proper care for your retina needs.

My daughter's visit was good!!! however we will not return to this location. The billing department needs to do better. They filed the claim with an old insurance that was on file even though we presented them with our new card and insurance information and waited an entire year or more after the initial visit to send us a bill for $500+ because the claim wasn't filed in a timely manner and therefore was denied by insurance. They reduced the balance to $265 and it seems we're basically being charged as self pay even though this was their mistake not ours. Had it been filed correctly in a timely manner we would not have received a bill at all. Billing department was argumentative and not much help.

On my first visit they left me in waiting room without saying a word for 40 min then I got up and said I was leaving all of a sudden doctor was available at this point I was already pissed so I left I rescheduled and when I came back yesterday they were quick at getting me back there but they dilated my eyes twice in one hour which I thank was just to torcher me because they knew I didn't like eye drops. Then they said they don't do cataract surgery there so I would have to go somewhere else to get all this done again what a waste of my time. I will never go back here again and would never recommend them and can't wait to see if they damaged my eyes in any way by dilating them twice in ahn hour

I spent three hours yesterday waiting in various lobbies to be seen by two doctors and assorted medical staff for a total of 35 minutes. My eyes were dilated and I was left in a sitting room for over an hour while other patients came and went. Twice I asked when I would be seen and was told in a few minutes. After a full hour of waiting and a third request for help I was finally taken to a room for tests on my eyes. Then I was taken to a room for a doctor to review photos of eyes. The doctor was extremely polite and thorough but explained that they are short staffed. I initially waited in the main lobby for an appointment that started 45 minutes after my scheduled time. 3 hours I spent in that office for what took 35 minutes. As I was leaving and tried to schedule my next appointment, the scheduler said "yes, it's always like this with long waits". That's either gross incompetence of the scheduler or greed on the part of the practice owner. Regardless of the quality of the doctor I finally saw, I will find a different practice. My time is just as valuable as the time of the people that run this clinic.

Dr. Gauthier is nothing short but wonderful. I was having trouble with one eye after surgery and he put into perspective what I didn't understand. He was patient and thorough. I highly recommend him.

I have been a longtime patient at the Virginia Retina Center. So was my late mother. The staff are professional and friendly. I especially commend Dr. Sam Mansour MD for his excellent care and very warm manner as a physician. He's the best. My mother and I both appreciated his excellent eye care. Additionally my mother very much liked Dr. Cook as an eye doctor. His work is outstanding as well. Great staff and eye care!
