The people here were nice. The eye Exam was rushed. I paid $75 to get my glasses shaved down. They were not shaved down. I've never had such huge bifocals in my life. but this is my fault for trying a new place because it's closer to us stay I usually go to Cascade. Guess I'm going back to them. My name is joseph gamble and I approved this message.

Update: I am removing as many stars as I can, because this optician's eye exam resulted in glasses that made what's normally my *good* vision blurry (things up close). I had to send back the glasses, get another eye exam, and get new glasses. My trip to Lakewood Eye Center was literally a complete waste of my time. *** I (female) got an eye exam at Lakewood Eye Center last weekend. The optician was a man in his ~60s. He made WAY too many comments about my age (40s), compared my age to his, etc. I did not laugh, smile, or acknowledge any of these comments (poker face), but he persisted. All all he had to say was that at age X people need Y eye care. He also made several comments about how paying for an eye exam in the US is easy, cheap, and universally covered (none of which are true). I had not asked for financial advice or even mentioned insurance. I told him I was really just there for the eye exam, but later, he mentioned this AGAIN. It was really condescending. At one point he reached to pat my leg, and I said: "please do not touch me." Best case, this was part of his icebreaker spiel, but regardless, it's inappropriate and made me even more wary. He would not be touching my leg if I was a man. It was like I was at a bar, not a doctor's office. When he did the eye exam for glasses, I told him my right eye was still slightly blurry. I asked him TWICE if that could be adjusted more precisely. He interrupted me every step of the way and concluded with a watered-down explanation along the lines of, your eyes will get better and see less blurry. I didn't get the sense he understood (or tried to understand) my question. I would have loved to go to the eye doctor and get a straightforward eye exam without any condescending sexist BS. I gave the 2nd star because the office accommodated a last-minute schedule change.

I myself will not be coming back here, last time I went in for an eye exam back in 2023, Dr Yoon went too fast even if I did say something, though the glasses helped me see a bit better they weren't as clear as my more recent ones. Tim (front desk guy) is friendly and teasingly jokes a lot, one thing I've always liked about here at Lakewood Eye Center since I've been going for as long as i could remember, but as I've gotten older I've realized that I need more time to let my eyes adjust and Dr Yoon just does not offer that for me even if I asked. Little sister apparently has no issue though so she does want to come back, I just cannot have a doctor who will not listen to me when I say I need time for my eyes to adjust, yes they may be funny but that doesn't make the issue just disappear.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I had an appointment earlier this month, and we did all the standard tests and a retinal scan. The doctor then proceeded to tell me that I was developing glaucoma in my right eye, and that both of my eyes had cholesterol buildup in the arteries in my eyes. He then lectured me on staying away from fried foods, Etc. I have a few medical conditions that make losing weight very difficult, I do not have diabetes, I have normal cholesterol levels, and I do not have high blood pressure so this came as a shock to me. He talked to me about the importance of losing weight, and watching my diet, even though I eat on a calorie deficit and exercise in an attempt to lose the weight that I gained from prior medical conditions. I walked out of that office in tears feeling very discouraged and frankly scared. I'm already very self-conscious about my weight, and this did not help things at all. The people around me encouraged me to go and get a second opinion, so I called an ophthalmologist's office and they set me up with their glaucoma specialist. Turns out, my optic nerves are "textbook perfect" So there is absolutely no signs of glaucoma whatsoever or even any pressure on the nerve as the doctor has claimed, and that if I did have any cholesterol in my eyes that it would be considered a medical emergency and I would be sent to the emergency room right away to check for plaque in my carotid artery. Neither of those happened. I was just told "come back and see me in a year". It was a bogus diagnosis to scare me into losing weight. I had been sweating bullets for weeks waiting for this ophthalmologist appointment because I was afraid I was going to go blind. I was furious. If you have gone to this clinic, and was given a similar diagnosis because you are overweight, I highly recommend you go and get a second opinion. Needless to say, I will not be going back.

I stopped coming here because my insurance had changed. Recently changed it back and when I came for my appt it's like I never left. Tim, at the front desk, very professional and helps you in anyway he can. He is very kind and will cheer you up if you're having the worst day. Dr Yoon is very respectful and attentive. He likes to know more about his patients and cares about them. They have this new machine where he is able to look into the optic nerve, or should I say optic brain. Rather than showing pics or models of it, he's showing you your actual eye. Very satisfying and nice! Thank you

Went here a year ago for an exam. The tech was terrible and treated me like I was stupid because I hadn't gone in for an eye exam for years. The doctor spent ten minutes explaining to me the profession I was in college for, then ten minutes telling me to lose weight, then another five telling me how he helped a women cure her diabetes and if i did the same I might find a husband and be happy like her. He also refused to believe what I could and couldn't see. Told me I had a high astigmatism. Went to another doctor a month later so told me I didn't have one and that the first prescription I got was totally wrong. Wouldn't recommend at all.

Our family went to Seattle to travel and forgot the plunger for my daughter's Ortho-K lenses. The staff at the place were very kind, offering us a replacement - at no charge. They were super kind and helpful. Thank you!

I had a great experience here for my eye exam! Tim is hilarious and I loved the back and forth banter with him, and the Doctor is super personable and thoroughly explained what he was doing while he was doing it while sharing personal stories at the same time. I will absolutely be returning!
