I have needed glasses, or contacts the last 40 years of my life and I can confidently say Dr. Keith Johnston is one of the best optometrists I have had the good fortune of seeing. He is patient and knowledgeable with a willingness to explain the different aspects of his testing to arrive with the best possible prescription for me. My contact lens prescription is fantastic and so is my glasses prescription.

My glasses ($900) lenses cracked because they are fitting the lenses on site by grinding on the edges, and not doing a great job. I had to pay over 400 dollars to replace them. Now my left lense is cracking right through the middle and I can't afford to pay to replace. I have worn this style of glasses for years and never had this happen before. I am always careful how I handle the glasses. I think I should not have to pay for something they have caused. I called to talk to someone and was told I had to go in to the clinic (45 miles) so they could look at them. The last time I was there, the manager accused me of mishandling the glasses. Way to save a buck Kaiser. Needless to say I have now switched insurance.

Had eye exam, new Rx. scheduled to have lens put into my own personal frames-only a year old. Cost for two pair of glasses -lens only- over $900$$$!!!... was told 7-10 days both pair of glasses would be finished. Left both pair and have NO other glasses. It has been over 5 WEEKS and no glasses... was told they were sent to Oregon. This is just beyond crazy. I can not drive-no glasses and still waiting. Should have gone to Costco or somewhere else and saved mega dollars and had glasses returned in a week. Beware---

I was waiting at the wrong clinic, and when I called to tell them I was going to be late due to that they said that should be fine. The other clinic was 20 minutes away, so I was about 15 minutes late. I live an hour away so it's already a pain, when I arrived they told me I couldn't be seen. It was a complete waste of time and money, and on top of that there was zero willingness to help. My coverage ends in January and they're booked out through December. I made an appointment three months before hand with Lindsay Jean Hamlin, easily the worst company & optometrist I've ever worked with, if you have a literally any other option don't go with these guys. If I could give zero stars I would, I get everyone else is booked out and it's probably really tough but there's no excuse especially when I made my appointment so far in advance and was told I would still be able to be seen when I called.

If you don't mind spending $700.00 out of pocket, being told 2 weeks for delivery, waiting a month, and only after you follow up twice do they eventually tell you they knew the day you ordered them that the glasses weren't actually available.
If your idea of a good time is waiting 3 months only to have the wrong size arrive.
If you find it appealing to wait again only to then to have them deliver the right size but the completely wrong frame, and then try to tell you it's what you ordered...
...well, you are in luck and you'll enjoy Kaiser Perm Eye Care experience.

I have not had a bad experience with Kaiser Permanente ever. And I've had a few insurances in my life and been to a few doctors offices. I had to go get a covid test and I was in and out of there in less than 2 minutes, including waiting in line. I have to say congratulations Kaiser Permanente! You are doing an excellent job.

I rush here to be on time as I'm the first appt of the day and they are STILL 15 mins late! I'm so tired of my time not be respected. I have a job and obligations just the same and would appreciate if the urgency for a scheduled time would be honored the same as I make it a point to be on time. I'm not going to lie. I was annoyed and felt unvalued so I got a important call in the waiting room when I already waited that long I decided to take that important call and not hang up with it since my time wasn't respected I'm not showing the same respect! Now I'm sitting in the exam room after 39 mins past my appt time and yet to see the doc! This is unacceptable! Be on time! There's no excuse if I'm the first patient of the day and I see everyone sitting around!

Although the service is great, Kaiser charged me $383 for a routine eye exam. Only $122 was covered under my (Core) health care plan; the rest payable under my deductible. Alternatively, you can get a full, routine exam as low as $207 at other local eye clinics. So my total out of pocket expense would have been significantly less. I would not return to Kaiser for eye care services because their fees do not seem inline with the marketplace.
