We love coming to Salmon Creek Eye Center for our annual eye exams and the occasional glasses update . The staff is always super friendly, and we absolutely love Dr. Scofield! A few years ago, we brought our son in for his first eye exam, and they made the whole experience comfortable and pleasant for him. I also really appreciate the great selection of eyewear--they have so many stylish options to choose from! Highly recommend!
I had a very irritated right eye that felt like I had something in it and couldn't get it out. I didn't have a local eye Dr established near me. Salmon Creek vision center was the closest to me. I called as soon as they opened, they got me in within 15 minutes! Dr. Waldo was kind, funny, reassuring and got me feeling better in no time. The staff were also compassionate and so helpful! I've found my new eye doctor and I'm not going anywhere else. I can't recommend them enough!
I would not recommend this business. In the past, I have done some business with them and while I thought the glasses were fine, I felt that they were overpriced and quite frankly borderline price gougers. However, they do have some of the more modern frames and I thought I would give them another try. I called and made the appointment for the frames and lenses and indicated to them that I had just recently had an updated prescription to bring with me. I got a call back from their office telling me that before I could see the clerk for the frames, that I would need to have a full eye exam from their Doctor. During that conversation, I was basically shouted down as I was explaining that I did not need an eye exam. In my view, this fits a pattern of overcharging their customers for unnecessary services and excessive markups.
I had just moved from SE Portland and needed a closer provider, so I gave SCVC a try. I used my annual benefits to get an exam and new glasses. The doctor said due to my age, I should get "relaxed lenses" because they'd help me focus better on (I believe) closer objects.
When I got the glasses, they were very different from what I expected. My peripheral vision was completely blurry and I had to turn my head to see to the sides. They also gave me an instant headache. Staff were rude about fixing this, doing everything to just get me to go away, but after pushing, they finally ordered replacement lenses.
They were no longer blurry in peripherals, but they still gave me an instant headache. I went back to get help, and they just denied that anything was wrong, blaming me. In 20 years of wearing glasses, I've never had an experience where the glasses hurt me that much. The only time I've had anything like that was when I ordered them myself from Zenni and put in the wrong pupillary distance...and these were actually worse.
I ended up spending an additional $600 to go back to my old provider, and they took care of me with no issues.
The most annoying part? The reason I went in was that my 2-year-old Silhouette frames snapped under normal use. SCVC told me there was nothing that could be done so I threw them away. I later learned from my previous provider that they could have ordered the one arm that broke, and it would have been covered under warranty. It would have cost me $30 if I hadn't been told they were trash by SCVC (who also sells Silhouette!!).
And this bears repeating since other reviewers mentioned it too - multiple staff members were levels of rude beyond anything I've experienced in a medical setting. They treated me like I was a huge inconvenience and like I was faking the headaches. That was extra weird because headaches are a common issue with bad prescriptions.
Anyway, it's not worth it. Just avoid this place.
Unfortunately due my own negligence, It was to long between visits. Dr Waldo and his staff took extra time with the exam and explain all my options. Super care and excellent service. Only place I will go for my eye care.,
The courtesy and professionalism is outstanding at Samon Creek Vision. From the receptionist to the tech to the doctor, I could not ask for better service! I've always hated eye exams but this experience was different. I felt valued as a patient and a person. Great job!
Dr. Waldo was amazing! This was our first apt with him for my 14 y/o. She's autistic and he was so accommodating, warm, and patient. He explained the difference between near sighted and far sighted, he cracked some jokes and we both had a great experience! The rest of the staff was so friendly, too! Karen helped us find a pair of glasses that were fun, and in my budget. I also love that I can text the office about insurance info, apt info, etc. We were searching for a great doctor, and WE FOUND WALDO!
An eye emergency can be scary. They got me in ASAP and were able diagnose the issue, communicate the problem, and articulate an effective treatment plan with the caring and friendly attitude that the situation required. I really felt like they understood my pain, I'd recommend to anyone!
