Vancouver Eye Care - Main Street Clinic

We've been with Vancouver Eye Care for 25 years, with Dr. Kim as our eye specialist. Always fantastic service, care and follow up. We could not be more pleased with his expertise and professionalism. Today's visit was even greater with our introduction to his able assistant, Vicky! She was thorough, explained each and every action she took and answered all of our questions perfectly.

Receptionist is absolutely rude. I was calling to ask questions and about setting up an appointment for my mom who is in a wheelchair but apparently that wasnt ok. Be better!!!! I made sure to tell her I hope her day gets better.

Please hire a new receptionist!!! SHERRY OR SHELLY whichever her name is, all i remember about her is how RUDE and inconvenienced she was taking my call and answering a few questions! How disgusting! From the reviews on here, looks like im not the only one noticing how disrespectful she is. Please dont let this lady ruin your reputation! You would probably have 5 stars if she wasnt such a snatch! God forbid you expect her to do her job! She will snap at you and sound very annoyed!!

I'd been going to Main St. Vancouver Eye Care for years. Throughout the years, I'd been struggling with dizzy spells, depth perception issues, blurred vision while driving, and night blindness. My contacts never worked and were always blurry. However, I was shrugged off multiple times and told that I had dry eyes. I'm a 33 y/o female with no preexisting health conditions that would effect my eyes. I've had glasses since I was 11. The last time I came in to this clinic, about 3 months ago, I asked for an eye exam for a new prescription. I told the staff that I was still having issues and they assured me they'd figure it out. They dilated my eyes, checked the health of my eyes, told me to use eye drops and sent me home. I was so surprised, because they didn't even check my vision. I left feeling helpless and wondering if something more serious was wrong with me. After a couple more months of consulting with my primary care provider, I was given a totally clean bill of health, and decided it must really be my vision. I made an appointment with a new eye doctor. After my appointment, I was affirmed that my vision was in fact worse than Vancouver Eye Center claimed and my prescription was totally wrong! Like SO WRONG!! I was told by my new eye doctor that I don't really have dry eyes, and that my eyes looked very healthy. Also, I was told that I have a hole in my eye that I was probably born with, but needs to be monitored over the course of my life (I was NEVER told that by Vancouver Eye Care. ) If I could get all my money back from the years of insufficient care, I would. I want to challenge every insurance claim this clinic made in my name, but alas I doubt theyd give me my benefits back. Do not go to this clinic.

Made an appointment over the phone for a back to back appointment with my husband. They messed up on my appointment to where it wasn't scheduled. Had to take even more time off of work to schedule a different appointment at another office as I'm not giving this office another go. Receptionist was nice but out of breath as she was the only one up there and the other receptionist gave such an attitude when I asked if there was an cancellations after his appointment for today, she gave something along the line of "can't you see we are busy?" and a VERY unfriendly face. If you are to stay with this office I recommend consistently calling to confirm your appointment and try to speak with the younger friendlier receptionist.

I had an appointment at Vancouver Eye Care today and was very nervous based on the 1- and 2-star reviews listed here, but my experience was the opposite so I wanted to come on here to quell anyone else's fears. One major complaint here is the wait time: I had an appointment at 3pm, arrived 15 minutes early, and was brought back before I could even finish my intake papers. Everyone I spoke to (the front desk people, the woman who saw me before the optometrist, and the optometrist himself) were very friendly and helpful. I was looking into getting contacts for the first time, and was given lots of information about what kind would work best for me, what the process to get them was like, and how to best utilize my insurance. The doctor himself was Dr. Thomas Nguyen, who I was told is the specialist on contact lenses. He answered all of my questions and was very personable and professional during the actual eye exam. On the way out, the front desk ladies were wonderful in helping me understand costs and what would come next in my journey to get contacts. I was in and out of there in an hour, total. If I could deduct half a point for my appointment being scheduled out several weeks, I would, but for all I know, there are circumstances outside of their control contributing to that so I'll keep it at 5 stars. I have to go back for a contact lens fitting, so I'll update my review if my experience sours, otherwise assume I am pleased with my experience and will be going back as long as I am in the area.

So I've never had a "traditional" eye exam. Normally, at my old Eye doctor, instead a computer scanner takes pictures of my eyes following a perscription check. However, the examiner here instead dilated my eyes. The reason I'm giving a 1 star review was because I was under the assumption that this was a normal eye exam, just without the computer. However, instead this place billed it as a medical exam despite me being there for a normal eye checkup, so it came up as a charge that the insurance would not cover, and they (the billing dep) refused to recode it as such. On top of that, the senior billing member was dismissive and only served backhanded remarks as responses rather than trying to work with me on this issue. Based on other reviews, it seems this is not an uncommon occurance with this location (it would've been great for me to see the reviews first..) I would not reccomend coming here if you would like to avoid a 300$ bill that should've been covered by your insurance provider.

Two times I have had huge delays in getting my children's frames because they one, never contacted me last time when they were ready so we waited almost 3 extra weeks because they said 4-6 so I checked just after 6 weeks trying to be patient they had been there for a while. This time I called after 2.5 weeks to check on it just in case and they have NO record of our order for her frames. No explanation, just kept asking me over and over who I saw in the optical department like I had not actually made the order and just *thought* I did. Come on now.
