UW Health Deming Way Eye Care Clinic - Optical

I needed an adjustment to the no-line bifocals I bought earlier this year at the UW Eye Care Clinic and they did a fast and excellent job. I was very pleased with their service.

Horrible reception ask them after appt 30 minutes behind very rude reception need staff over hall I understand you want patients to respect and be kind but that doesn't mean reception can be rude without questioning

On 8/18/23 I had to cancel an appointment for Nov 6th, 2023. The next opening was not until Jan. 2025! This means that it will be well over a year after my original date. I am a 75 year old who has been diagnosed with eye related issues and feel this is a totally unacceptable delay. My only other options would be to switch providers and hope my insurance would provide coverage or to reschedule at another UW clinic (who also have staff shortages and long waits). UW Optical needs to seriously address their staffing shortages and take a more proactive approach to customer service.

Back in May I tried to make an appointment because my last eye exam was 3 years ago and I needed new glasses (they broke). After 20m waiting in the phone they told me the earlier they could see me was November. I made an appointment but looked for other places - found one that will see me within one week and they had great services. When I tried to cancel my appointment, it was impossible: I called at 8am, 10am, 2pm, 3pm, I was put on hold forever with a message saying they were experiencing a large volume of calls. I purposely tried times when people are usually working, days of the week that tend to be less busy (Tuesdays, Thursdays). Nothing. I gave up, let's see what they say when I do not attend.

The optical shop staff was very friendly during the selection and fitting process and the curating by staff was very good (i ended up really liking the first frame they picked). But not so much once I had picked up the glasses and paid. The temples needed to be adjusted and it took three visits to do this and they were not friendly about it, causing anxiety that the frame size was not right and that they just wanted to be rid of me. Now that they have finally been adjusted, I really like the glasses. But not acceptable customer service after spending $900+ on the glasses, especially given the language on their website touting their customer service and that I have been buying my glasses from uw health optical centers for 18 years.

If I could give a 0 I would. Scheduled an appointment 6 months ago. Had a reminder in my calendar. Never received an appointment reminder call or had anything in MyChart. Tried calling the clinic the morning of appointment and was told there was a 91 minute wait time to talk to someone. The clinic was open for 3 minutes...... AWFUL

I had to wait so long. My appointment took over 2 hours and it was just a simple appointment with no questions! The receptionists are either super nice or very rude (usually it's the rude one)! When trying to schedule the appointment you cant understand a bunch of the receptionists too. My doctor ordered some contacts and said I would get a call when they were in. Waited 3 weeks. I tried calling the optic shop. It took more than 24 HOURS to get in contact with someone. When I did the women, April, was the rudest person ever. I asked if they were in and she was like we called and left a message. I asked if that ment they were ready and she in the snottiest way possible said yes. I then told her I never got the call, so she read the number they called and it was definitely not mine. I don't even know how they messed that up since they used my freaking medical information that I've never changed. She never apologized for the mess up. Extremely un professional and I would never chose them again!!

It is Very very frustrating to get hold of front desk for appointments. it is very bad, or the worst staff at front desk. the doctor Walker is really good. I know it sounds unrealistic , i am trying to get an appointment since one week calling them everyday and put on hold for 20 minutes and never got to speak. still trying. looks like I have to go there in person to get an appointment. It is hopeless. Worst staff at front desk. I cant believe they are ALWAYS busy ,each and every part of the day.
