Great doctor. I would highly recommend Dr. Owen to anyone. He was my mom's doctor & has been mine for several years. Macular Degenerative Eye Disease runs in my mom's family. I feel very confident with Dr. Owen, knowing I could possibly inherit this disease.

If I could give them no stars, I would. I have had a TERRIBLE experience this year with Callahan Eye and Dr. John Owen's office. In previous years, I have had great experiences. I am an employee at UAB Hospital, and while I normally would refer people to UAB, I would NEVER refer them to Callahan Eye or Dr. John Owen. After multiple (10) attempts to contact their office over a week period to simply order contact lenses, I finally had to call the main number for optical wear. They finally returned my call 12 days later.... Now I am being charged an absurd fee for something that was not done during my yearly exam. The billing office has been helpful however the office of Dr. John Owen has been less than helpful. I am being charged ridiculous amounts of money for a yearly eye exam that I have never been charged before with little clarification from the physician himself. It should not be this difficult for a patient to get in contact with their physician or seek clarification for charges. This is exactly why people do not go to the doctor. I will be telling everyone I know not to go to Callahan Eye, specifically Dr. John Owen.

I have been going to Dr. Owen for well over 20 years and he has always done an amazing job of taking care of me and my family. He is very thorough and he will explain everything to me that I need to know. If I have any questions, he explains things very well. His staff is great. They are very positive and always helpful with any questions or needs. I would highly recommend Dr. Owen.

Dr. Owen is THE BEST! He is very thorough, he and his staff were so kind and friendly and patient (with my many questions). He took the time to explain to me what every test was and what the results meant, even using pictures and graphs. Also they have a very stylish selection of glasses available if you choose to buy glasses there. He's also just really nice! I just can't say enough good things about this practice!

Dr Owen has been my ophthalmologist for over 20 years. He has followed and treated me for extreme nearsightedness, glaucoma, cataract surgery and recently, a retinal detachment. In all these years I have found him to be a conscientious, competent, respectful and caring physician. He listens well and will answer every question patiently, yet is very efficient in his practice. He is the only doctor I have ever seen that personally escorts his patients to the waiting room after the examination. The staff, too, is just wonderful. I highly recommend him and his practice.

I was very pleased with my visit to Dr. Owens office. Everyone was very courteous and professional. Dr. Owens is very knowledgeable and caring and answers any questions or concerns you may have. He makes you feel comfortable. He called me at home the evening of my cataract surgery to make sure I was alright. Looking forward to having my other eye done.

As a patient of Dr. Owen for the past several years, I believe I am receiving the best ophthalmology care available. The office atmosphere is cordial and professional. Dr. Owen takes the time to answer any questions and address any concerns. He & his staff provide a thorough, professional service.
