Our son needed an eye exam and we went to Eye Center South. He is 6 and was scared. Veronica, one of Dr. McCauley's techs was so good to my son. She was patient, with him and made him very comfortable. Veronica was awesome. She even had glow sticks and gave him a sucker. Went above and beyond. Thank you Veronica for treating my little boy so good! You deserve raise!

This was the worst doctors visit I have ever had. I waited 3 1/2 hours and then did not even get to see the doctor I had an appointment with. I was scheduled with Dr. Heersink (an ophthalmologist) and was forced to see Dr. Schroeder with no notice. My neurologist specifically wanted me to see an ophthalmologist. My concerns about this were dismissed. Dr. Schroeder looked at my eyes and said "Looks like papilledema" then coerced me into getting an OCT scan. He then cane back and said "you're fine. It is not your eyes". He offered no explanation and did not show me my scan or explain the results. He did not explain how he "saw" papilledema on the exam but then said I was fine after a scan. This entire visit was extremely unprofessional. The woman screening me was talking on her cell phone while getting my history, and used several curse words. I will not ever return to Eye Center South.

Dr. Herrsink is great.
The overall staff and process for patients though, nah. Find somewhere else to be seen unless you have plenty of time to waste.
1st appt, seen for surgical consult.
Checked out and made f/u appt to discuss surgery date and "trial" of meds.
Came to 2nd appt to be told they have nothing in the system for me even though we made that appt a month prior during the checkout at the 1st appt.
Made a "3rd" appt, got here early, then left to sit in the waiting room as numerous other patients got called ahead of me.
Informed a staff member I'd been waiting in this same chair for over 90 mins and was told "I had to wait for everyone else to finish". Asked for an office manager and they refused to speak with me directly.

My $500+ lenses in 9 months delaminated the coating on the "Premium" lens. They would not even offer to assist. Told me $480 for their lens! I can buy glasses anywhere I want to and it definitely will not EVER be there again! Good riddance! Do not buy your Eyewear at that place! I don't just leave bad reviews either.
Update: Odessa at Eye Center South reached out to me. Where was she on my first trip that was awful! I was offered assistance by her and it redeemed them. I paid what I thought was fair towards replacing my lenses. Jada was who help me and she was a doll! She is a huge asset to your store. Very personal and professional. Kudos to you!

As HARD as it is for veterans to get a referral for COMMUNITY CARE please dont waste your time going to this place! For over 5+ months I have been trying to get an appointment with these people. Community care has repeatedly faxed authorization (even to specific people that i had spoke to in person), Ive called and went in person and it was always the VA's fault or VA couldnt "reach me" excuse. Today, i called again, got a different person (Debbie(rude)) and was told that my authorization had expired (imagine that) so they dont have an updated code for me and I need to have an updated code faxed to Vision Center/Works instead. Amazing, nobody else could tell me that in all the months of communicating. Maybe all veterans dont have this problem but the LAZY INCOMPETENT "pass the buck" attitude I experienced can stay at EYE CENTER SOUTH! I hadnt thought to read the reviews but looks like i actually dodged a bullet, even with appointments it seems this place takes YOUR TIME for granted! Please dont do the "thank you for your feedback" response. This is your feed back--seriously, do better!

This place blew my mind for being an eye specialist! The building is new and friendly staff. Dr. Denny was great and i really enjoyed meeting with him and learning about my stigmatism. i know they have one of the best selections of eye glasses from dickeys to prada! very reasonable with prices also which is plus also. they even fixed a pair of sunglasses that i broke and put them in at no cost. Thank you ECS for an awesome and amazing experience. all though there is a wait so i do recommend making an appointment!!

I had an appt at 1:40pm with S Heersink for capsulotomy/post-cataract procedure...I was charged $291 co-pay at Vision Center then sent to Surgery Center where I paid $315 co-pay..when I asked what the $291 was for I got the "idk..probably for tests??"
My procedure lasted approximately 3min & didn't leave facility til 5:10 pm. The biggest problem was that while I was having the procedure 3 other ppl watched & I watched theirs in a 10x10 room..I knew their names & the eye they were having lasered...has Eye Center South had HIPAA education??? In 38 yrs of Healthcare this is the worst HIPAA violation I've ever seen!
