I had a great experience with my eye exam appt. Dr. Sullins was knowledgeable, thorough, and took the time to explain everything clearly. The front desk and check-out staff were friendly and helpful too.
Upon arrival to pick up my 11 year olds glasses, the woman sitting at desk on optical side went to back & got my daughter's glasses. She handed them to her, had me sign & date a piece of paper to verify receipt and told me if we have any issues to come back. Another child around my daughter's age also was picking up hers & the employee assisting her & her mother. was friendly, enthusiastic, & patient. This appeared to make the child feel confident. This is my daughter's first time wearing glasses, they were just handed to her, no instructions on cleaning them or making sure they had no smudges before she tried them on, no adjustments made or time utilized to check if any were needed. No allowing her to look and see if they were comfortable, just here you go & bye basically. This is my second time having an unsatisfactory visit with that side of the establishment. I had an exam, was looking through frames & was told I wasn't eligible & where the Medicaid approved frames were located. I had BlueCtoss Insurance but to be singled out & told that instead of being asked would've been a better approach. My daughter was on AllKids but they changed the eligibility requirements & placed her on Medicaid,. Now I'm wondering if it's an ongoing theme to treat people who are on Medicaid 9t those you assume are on Medicaid completely different by certain employees.
The doctor was amazing, however, the eyewear side....3-5 days for your glasses is not correct and when you call to find out exactly when....they don't answer. On the eye doctor's side a nice gentleman named Jovone(?) was very polite and helpful. He said he'd leave notes on my profile ( the phones had a bad clicking sound and neither of us could hear) so when I called back I could have a bit more information. I called and got Whitney ( twice) I tried telling her that no one is answering on the eyeglass side and that Jovan left notes for me, well Whitney did not listen or hear what I said she transferred me anyway, and again the eyeglass department did not answer or pick up.
I had the best experience with EyeCare Associates today! I went in with a pair of glasses that I accidentally broke, after having them for a long time. I just walked right in. I spoke with Kelsey and told her that I'm started a new job on the 13th. She was very understanding and took the time to listen to my ramblings. I explained that I went to the nearby Walmary vision center and the representative told me it was illegal to put my lenses in a different frame. Kelsey told me that was baloney, for sure because she used to work for the Walmart vision center. Due to the type of lenses that I have, she said the representative just possibly didn't want to mess with my glasses. I walked out with a new set of frames without being pressured to get an eye exam at that moment. I really appreciate the experience I had. I will be back with my son, who is also blind, when my vision insurance kicks in, to get fresh eye exams and glasses.
This was also just an observation, but it was nice to see a place where the atmosphere seemed relaxed. Everyone seemed like they enjoyed being at work and didn't actually hate being there. Thank you so much for the positive experience!

Very friendly and professional. No wait period to have the exams, and Dr. York was very thorough in his examination. Office is close to my home so do not have to content with traffic. A BIG PLUS.
I went for contacts under insurance. My friend helped me get them because my glasses broke and I lost a contact- I couldn't see. I asked up front what the fees might be before I went. Insurance was verified and that is all that was said. During the exam, I was told there is a $70 contact fee for the doctor which might not be covered. I asked to know exactly this info before we continued because it was not me paying. The response was a smile and a nod. The doctor spent extra time explaining various treatment options even though he was behind and working through lunch, and I was given very good care. But, as soon as I was about to say goodbye, $70 dollars was asked for and due now. I explained I specifically asked the tech to let me know that before the appointment continued. Oddly, I got the same smile and shrug. It's not a high fee or anything but I didn't know if my friend was able to pay it as I don't know his finances. I had to stay at the office until I was able to get my friend on the phone. Luckily he was able to complete the transaction satisfactory per requested. The clear feeling is that this happens this way intentionally as there was no apology about confusion which I was very concerned about. I think other clinics do this too because I think I remember the same thing when I worked at an eye clinic in a different city. But, still, all fees should be known before the appointment begins, especially if the patient is asking and concerned. Otherwise, good experience and very nice people.
I Love this location!! Everyone was friendly and helpful.. Dr. York is always pleasant and understanding!! He is also very good with my six year old (autistic son)... GREAT JOB
Dr Sullins is pleasant, professional and efficient. Used her dad as my eye care doctor for decades and after he retired, I have been going to his daughter and several years. She is a chip off her father's back as far as eye care - excellent!
