I'm so sad about this experience. My entire family went two years ago, and had a wonderful experience. This year has been a disaster. The doctor was great, the lady who did the pre-exam was great. I was told my glasses would be back in two weeks. Two weeks later I called, after waiting ten minutes they came back and simply said, they're not back yet. Waiting a few more days, the same thing. Finally I sent an email asking if they had lost my order? I immediately received a call, explaining that the lab had broken one lens, and it would be another two weeks. Hmmm, so you just found out the day I send an email, that it will be another two weeks because of the lab? I will now deal with headaches and dizziness for another two weeks. Really disappointed. ***UPDATE: finally picked up my glasses, and the lens was messed up. I could tell them exactly which lens was broken, because it looked different. Looked so stupid, and the guy tried to say he couldn't tell. WHAT? You're the professional and can't tell, but all of my co-workers could? He offers to send them back to the lab to be fixed, "free of charge". I guess so, I've paid $500 for a copayment, I'm pretty sure I should get perfect glasses. So, initial order was on Oct. 27th.... Still waiting. Nov. 26th. I hope my next step is not the BBB.
The Dr was fine, and the experience was fine for the most part. The tech that helped was great. But the receptionists really make the experience lack luster. I've visited several times, and they just aren't attentive to guests. They hold their own conversations and do not seem to care about people who walk through the front door. A little care goes a long way. Everything else was great.
Husband and I came here for exams and glasses. They were amazing, professional and really helped my husband with his first pair of glasses. Worked with our insurance to make sure we got the most out of our allowance. Josh was amazing with all the questions my husband had and really took the time to explain all the options and help him decide what to get. We actually had finished ordering our glasses and the optometrist asked to see my husband again cuz she noticed his eyes were really dry. She ran an extra test and recommended a course of action that I really felt like was above and beyond. Made us feel like she really cares about his eye health. Most places just want to sell the product and send you on your way. They genuinely care here and it shows!
My experience at Specs of Madison Eyeglasses Center was nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. I made an appointment on October 31 to address issues with my contact lenses and to renew my prescription. I appreciated being seen within the hour, but that was where the positive experience ended.
Upon arrival, I communicated to the receptionist that I had just opened a new pack of contacts that morning, but my left eye was in severe discomfort, preventing me from wearing my contact. I explained that three out of the six lenses in that pack had caused the same problem. Despite being short-staffed, the team took me to an exam room promptly.
The doctor came in and began the eye exam without thoroughly addressing my concerns about the discomfort in my left eye. I reiterated my issue, and after a brief examination, she diagnosed me with an eye ulcer. She admitted that she wished she had examined my eye before conducting the eye exam, which rendered my prescription void. She prescribed antibiotics for the ulcer, assuring me that we would redo the eye exam once I returned.
However, my experience took a turn when I went to the pharmacy to fill the antibiotic prescription. There was an issue with the prescription that delayed my ability to get the medication until Sunday. Additionally, Specs had given me artificial tears to use over the weekend, but when I checked the expiration date, I discovered they had expired in June 2025--months before my visit. This negligence raised serious concerns about the quality and safety of the products they dispense.
When I returned for a follow-up appointment on Monday to assess my eye's healing and to obtain contact lenses, I arrived early to return the expired artificial tears. The receptionist looked for a new bottle but returned with an entire box of artificial tears, only to say, "You're not going to believe this, but they're ALL expired." This indicated a systemic issue with expired products being given to patients, which is alarming for any healthcare facility.
During my follow-up, another staff member brought me into the exam room for tests before the doctor arrived. When she examined my eye, she confirmed that the ulcer was healing well and that I didn't need another follow-up appointment. I expressed relief but reminded her that we still needed to conduct my eye exam for contacts. To my confusion, she claimed she had already ordered my contacts, despite initially telling me my prescription was void. She then conducted a hasty eye exam and concluded that my prescription remained the same.
Frustrated by the lack of clarity, I requested a trial pair of contacts. She informed me that they didn't have my exact prescription for trial lenses. When I asked about updating my glasses today, she indicated I could handle that with Josh at the front desk. However, this led to further miscommunication. After discussing my glasses with Josh, I was charged $320 out of pocket, only to learn that it would take two weeks for my new lenses to arrive.
The overall culture and customer service at this location are concerning. It's crucial to prioritize patient safety and effective communication, especially when dealing with something as sensitive as eye health. My experience left me feeling undervalued as a patient. The staff seemed unprepared to address basic questions or check necessary details, resulting in unnecessary frustration.
Today, I called to inquire about the status of my contact lenses, only to be met with indifference. The staff member answered my inquiry without any regard for my identity. When I asked about the availability of a temporary pair of contacts, she simply stated, "If the doctor said they had some, they do," without further assistance.
After everything I've endured, it's clear that I cannot recommend this location. I need contacts to get by, and while I'll collect what I've paid for, I will not be returning. The lack of professionalism and oversight at Specs of Madison Eyeglasses Center is unacceptable, and it raises serious concerns about the care of their patients.
Brittany at the front desk is awesome! She helped me order my contacts last min on a Friday and I received them the following Monday! So quick and easy. Love the customer service here at this place. Keep it up. We appreciate you
Initially tried calling and leaving a message to schedule an eye appointment for my daughter. After several days with no return call, decided to stop in since they advertise "walk-in available". We told them we called and they said it was probably routed to the Athens location and they didn't forward the message. When we got there and asked for an eye exam the man at the front basically scoffed at us and said they didn't have enough time, despite not closing for another hour and a half. 0 effort for customer service, we'll be going elsewhere.
For some reason every time I go inside the lady up front has nothing to do and is uninviting but whenever I call they're magically too busy to answer. Left voicemail last week and never got a call back and this isn't the first time it's happened.
Gonna just go ahead and see a different eye doctor.
I'm shocked to be reading so many poor reviews because in my three (?) years as a patient, I 've always been treated with respect and they've always promptly seen me. I'm a breastfeeding mother, and Dr. Wright and her staff were very accommodating during my appointment. They were so patient and way more tolerant of my children than any other medical provider I've ever been to. To be able to receive care without feeling unwelcome with my children is priceless. They were quick to run my insurance and get me checked out after I selected frames. I would highly recommend Dr. Wright for anyone needing an exam and/or glasses.
