Went here with my daughter to get her prescription glasses. Very friendly ladies work here that cared for her and got her setup with glasses she chose herself.
The glasses came and we are happy! This is a smaller shop feel which I don't mind at all! Sometimes that is better than the big names. Overall thank you ladies!!
The staff were very personable and the atmosphere was professional yet Alaskan. (If your from here, you know.) The doctor I saw was very kind and made me feel like she genuinely cared about my care.
The reason this is not a 5 start review is because she was 45 minutes late. She was not actually in the office until 40 minutes after my appointment time. When she arrived she spent 5 minutes laughing with the office staff before asking me to come to the back.
I appreciated the office staff keeping me busy by trying to get things done while we waited but I felt that the fact she wasn't even in the office was not professional. I would have happily come in another day or came in an hour later.
Other than this situation, I would definitely recommend this office to friends and family.
Unfortunately my insurance did not work with this mom & pop glasses shop, but i had such a lovely experience i figured I better give a shout-out! Janette? (I'm absolutely terrible with names) was *very* helpful and informative in finding me a nice looking pair of glasses and discussing insurance and billing.
I love that they're locally owned. I bought my contacts here and they were the cheapest in town. It was easy to get a contact fitting done, then even easier once I ran out of contacts to buy more. I thought I'd have to get another eye exam done to get more, but they had my name on file, and even reserved some for me to pick up! I think they have great customer service.
My experience here has always been awesome. Jenet is very friendly and helpful. I went here to get my newest glasses in December 2016. The whole process was nice and smooth (I didn't get my eye exam here since it was done through the VA). Jenet took all the steps to ensure my glasses were the right fit. After the order was placed it took about a week to get my new frames and lenses. Once again Jenet took to time to listen to my feedback to ensure the frames were properly adjusted and were comfortable. Another great bonus is that I play soccer and was pretty rough on my glasses. I would have to come in about every two weeks to get them adjusted and straightened out. Jenet was always willing to adjust them no problem. Then, one day she discovered my glasses were actually broke. Good thing all of their frames have a one year warranty so I was able to get new frames for free, which after ordered, arrived in about three days. I decided to order sport safety glasses. They were supposed to arrive in a week. When it had been around ten working days, I called to ask about them. Jenet contacted the manufacturer and called me back to explain there was a problem at the lab, and the manufacturer had to remake them. I was not at all upset by this because: it was not directly Lake Otis Optical's fault, Jenet contacted me within 15 minutes of asking her, it's nice to know they deal with manufacturers who are willing to admit a mistake, and deliver quality goods to their customers, and within two working days my sport glasses had arrived. Overall great selection of frames, sunglasses, and safety glasses. Great customer service and warranty. They do have veteran discounts. Jenet is highly knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I highly recommend them to anyone!
After a three hour appointment that I was told would only be 30-60 minutes the women at the counter convinced me it would be easier and more cost effective to just order glasses and contacts through them and they could have them ready sooner than ordering online. (I usually use 1800contacts)
Fast forward to receiving my glasses and contacts and I notice that my contact lenses have exactly the same power prescription as my last ones (happens) except the base curve that has always been an 8.4 is prescribed now as an 8.6 and they gave me an 8.8 Not only this but the contacts they gave me for the right eye were removed from the sealed prescription box and in a ziploc bag and the lenses for the left eye were marked for a box of 12 not individual sale.
When I called and questioned the woman about the BC changing her response was "well we didn't have an old prescription to go off of so we just used the average" when I asked her why they didn't just use the measurement like they were supposed to she just dodged the question and said I could bring the lenses back to exchange even though they weren't supposed to do that.
Needless to say I cannot wear the lenses as they give me a migraine and I am squinting to see anything. There is something not right about their business practices and I would never again trust them and recommend anyone who cares for their vision and eyes avoid them at all costs.
I did attempt to order another set of lenses but I will be going back to a legitimate business from here on out.
I have nothing but great experiences here. I have broke my glasses a handful of times and every time I brought them in they were able to fix them on the spot. In and out in 5 min with no extra charge. This is where I will do my business for years to come. They have always taken care of me.
DO NOT GET AN EYE EXAM HERE! Went to Lake Otis Optical for an eye exam. Billed my insurance and paid my co-pay to Lake Otis Optical. My appointment was with Dr. Phillip Bach.
I received my eye prescription, went to get my new glasses and the glass shop I went to mentioned that my old glasses have bifocals and the new prescription did not. I need them, so I called Lake Otis Optical back. They apologized, and I came back in for another eye exam. Dr. Bach said he forgot to check that part of my eyes. Awesome.
So I get a new prescription, have it filled, wait three weeks for the lenses to come in, and finally go pick them up. Depth perception is way off and I see doubles when looking out of the corners of my eyes. Had a third party shop measure the axis of my old prescription (which I see perfectly out of), and my new one. The axis was over 10 points off on the prescription they wrote to me.
I called them back and Lake Otis Optical gave me a line about Dr. Bach is an independent contractor who they are "not affiliated with" but they allow him to work out of his office, process his credit cards, and schedule his appointments. They said there is nothing they can do, other than leave a note for Dr. Bach to call me. He never called back.
I called again and was assured he would call me two days later. Never did. Been over two weeks now and four calls. Dr. Bach is dodging my calls and Lake Otis Optical says it's not their problem.
Basically I am screwed. I highly recommend you not visit Lake Otis Optical or Dr. Phillip Bach. I am out my co-pay, my yearly insurance eye exam, the $90.00 I paid out of pocket for glasses I cannot use, time off work, etc. They are not making things right and don't seem to care.
AVOID.
